The perfect solution would be if PDF download could be initiated by collections as well as by search lists, e.g. when filtering by tags/keywords. This approach is also more friendly for large full libraries.

I don’t know whether you adjusted something, but this second reinstall has been free of issues so far.

To sum it up, both Zotero beta in my phone and PaperShip on my iPad handles my collection without issues. It’s only Zotero beta on the iPad that crashes. I just reinstalled it again and will report when the app stops launching. It seems that I have …

@michalrentka Interestingly enough, the current Zotero beta runs fine on iOS 15.4 beta, so it seems to be limited to iPad OS. This is a screenshot from my phone I just made. https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZd5JoXZ9J6gKgLN1wBESTI7k960HS8jpB…

@dstillman I have no debug ID to report. The app can’t run on iPad OS 15.4 beta. Either quits instantly after a flash of the Home Screen background image or the Z shows forever. If I recall it correctly the app ran fine after a reinstall, but only …

Some periods there are barely any recognizable bugs, but other times the app may not work at all. E.g. I’ve been unable to use it since I installed iPad OS 15.4 beta. So there’s a reason it’s still in beta test it seems. Especially when two betas co…

It seems that this issue affects my iPhone as well. Just saved a paper on the phone D2122321945 Corresponding desktop report ID: 182067952 Desktop error may be related to the latest beta, it was updated earlier today. I hadn't seen the sync error b…

@albialy Swipe on the item, select More, Share and Copy?

It happens from almost all journal sites. I’m on iOS 15.3 beta now, but no difference is noticeable between OS versions, the behavior was the same when on 15.2 final. If you recall it I recently reinstalled the app. I can give it another go if neces…

It’s an open access journal and yes, everything seems normal in the iOS app, I can open the PDF. However, the Sync failed (Failed API response) as well as the very slow or failed loading of collections in Safari is rampant now. I still suspect that …

I think I caught one. What’s more, there’s also an error message on the desktop. First, the iOS debug: D1807591404 The desktop: 1377550587

D795862931 I hope this report captured the problem. The in-app error message claimed that there were sync issues with 18 files? The last 4 iPad saved items again contain no valid PDFs when trying to access on the desktop. Another one following the …

Yes, I just corrected (deleted and re-added) several PDFs in the desktop app earlier this morning. Latest Zotero iOS as well as desktop betas. I mean the issue was present both before and after updating the app in TestFlight. Debugging was not activ…

I forgot to mention that this server communication issue affects the Safari extension as well. Often “Loading collections” is stuck forever. I use a system wide DNS based filter (AdGuard), although its involvement sounds unlikely, given that PaperSh…

I apologize for the delay, and I still haven’t been able to carry out the tests as suggested above. However, the problem might be communication related between the iOS Zotero app and the Zotero server. I regularly get API connection errors and this …

@michalrentka Yes, sync works perfectly the other direction, i.e. when saving on the desktop (latest beta Zotero). I only have this problem when saving papers with the iOS app on my iPad. Also, not all items turn out to be missing when saved on the…

@michalrentka Nothing with the mentioned file names was created on the WebDAV\Zotero See also screenshot in my previous comment.

I manually fixed that problem soon after reporting, but have recorded several since: D766597084 VRFIX5QT is not created on the WebDAV in the Zotero folder. D346596513 J2GPZW7U is not created on the WebDAV in the Zotero folder. D380957402 4CEV4UHI…

A potentially interesting addition. Not even a preloaded PDF from science.org can be saved to Zotero via the Safari extension on the iPad. The same grayed out Save to… button. I’m trying with this one now: https://www.science.org/doi/pdf/10.1126/sci…

E.g. this article can be saved without any lag on the desktop -- Save to Zotero (Atypon journals) https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abl8213 The iOS share extension just stops loading it and the Save to Zotero button remains grayed out for m…

I can confirm this behavior, and it's applicable to ALL journal pages where the 'PDF' link leads to an online reader page and not directly to a PDF file. On top of ScienceDirect this is the outcome on Wiley, Science, etc. The Safari share extension …

Interestingly, 7 items saved on the iPad synced just fine then I got another one unavailable on desktop. Debug ID: D1546840224 Zotero desktop file open error message screenshot: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZxbKAXZI0NE87sJrMVJ5zzjxFJ8a8R…

The same paper can be saved via PubMed, although the PDF has to be added separately. Example: Zotero iPad saves via this link https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34837251/ But nothing happens via https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/imr.13048 Con…

I can confirm that this is an issue similar to what was reported for ScienceDirect, at least in the Zotero beta app for iOS. On e.g. this page https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/imr.13045 saving stalls due to not being able to fetch the PDF…

PCloud user here. I also had issues with file syncing after the server outage yesterday. The iOS app was somehow uploading files to the Zotero server while being set to WebDAV. I was only able to fix this by deleting and reinstalling the iOS app. In…

Let me clarify. ‘Sending over’ the already loaded PDF works. Automatic PDF fetching when saving a paper via the share extension fails. Perhaps there’s some tweaking going on, but right now I can’t even save the article due to no progress in PDF fetc…

No error messages following the first two syncs. Thanks for the update!
-
It is somehow connected to WebDAV syncing, because after reinstall, the app reverted to the default Zotero server sync and the error message didn’t appear upon first sync. When switching to WebDAV, it reappeared again. Not urgent, because the app is…
-
The problem persists even after deleting and reinstalling the iOS app. Sync is OK, but I keep getting the error message. Still only on the iPad, not on the phone (same iOS and Zotero versions).

Saving PDF from ScienceDirect via the Safari share extension doesn’t work in the iOS beta app either.
