I'm using portable Zotero on PCs with various locales (US/UK, CN, RU) and inconsistency in displayed date formats is highly counterproductive and annoying. So, how do I permanently fix the format used by Zotero to display fields such as "Date Added…

@dstillman Thank you. I've been looking forward to this feature for a long time, and now when the time came to process over 400 book sections using an extension that only works with DOI field I was reminded how much I missed it and I decided to post…
-
@bwiernik Thank you. Could you please elaborate why DOI field hasn't been added yet to all items? Is there a technical difficulty, some bibliographical standard that doesn't allow that or backward compatibility issues?
-
@dstillman: thank you very much for such a detailed and substantial answer. So the problem is on the Microsoft's side. Is there a way to disable DAV header check in Zotero so that it is also able to "cooperate" with OneDrive?
-
@dstillman: Debug ID: D1082762907. Thank you! P.S. Switching between http and https makes no difference.
-
Unfortunately, I have to confirm that using OneDrive's URL for WebDAV still returns an error: https://d.docs.live.net/cid/zotero/ is not a valid WebDAV URL On the other hand, this very URL works perfectly fine for the file system access both on W…

+1, I have exactly the same issue. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit 1803, OS Build 17134.48 and Zotero 5.0.47. Freshly installed Zotero freezes when `Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support` option is ticked under `Region Settings`. No other ap…

@bwiernik I guess I just like to keep that duplicates folder clean. And it would be nice if an algorithm behind determining dupes were less limited. If it's hard to achieve now, why not just let users manually resolve the issue? This would reduce …

@balabi You can use Better BibTeX addon (https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-better-bibtex), which adds automatic export and many other neat features for LaTeX users. I completely ditched Jabref from my workflow and use LaTeX editor (VSCode with …

@adamsmith Tropy looks a lot like Zotero in terms of interface and how it stores the metadata (RDF). I have a suspicion that Tropy may occasionally become the next iteration of Zotero after adding styles and PDF support, rendering Zotero obsolete. …

This may sound intrusive, but I'm wondering whether it's possible to keep an eye on the Electron-based Zotero development, or even try nightly builds. Is there a dedicated GitHub repo or certain place when one could watch the current status?
-
@dstillman Thanks a lot, `zotero -P -no-remote` did it. Now I feel stupid:)
-
Same effect with `zotero -P` (I thought on Windows commands are generally case-insensitive), switches to the opened instance.
-
Calling `zotero -p` again switches to the running instance instead of launching the profile manager.
-
It's always been hilariously long to me too, but I got used to it. I haven't noticed any performance improvements between the versions (I used Zotero from the version 3, and Zotero 5 is just as slow as earlier versions when it comes to adding PDFs).…
-
Bumping the thread, +1 to Zotero Stackexchange idea. If not the entire subnetwork, at least it would be nice to know where the questions should be put. As of now, I've seen them on Superuser, TexSE and Stackoverflow.

Zotero 5.0.25 on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, the problem is still not fixed. The workaround provided by @butsuriboy (thank you!) still works though.
-
@bwiernik Thank you!

@dstillman Out of curiosity, my `zotero.sqlite` is approx. 1.5 GB in size, whereas Zotero DB Repair Tool accepts files of max. 100 MB in size. If user with larger database receives similar error, how to handle it properly?

Even though seamless downloading of PDFs through sci-hub would simplify life of an end-user, this can negatively affect the service itself as it monetized by donations, but the biggest chunk I imagine comes from ads (I specifically turned μBlock off…

For the record, I use TexLive 2017 and biber 2.7 shipped with it.

Not a complaint, but on 1366x768 screen Z5's interface (v. 5.0.17 from AUR) looks just fine on Windows 10, but on Manjaro Linux with Plasma 5 all interface element are like 1.2 times upscaled. Maybe it has something to do with how Qt draws window de…

I wouldn't say Z5 is completely broken; yes, it's pretty much a downgrade here and there, many plugins are obsolete, it takes forever to start, search stuff and close, but it is STILL probably the best free option available which is sane for an aver…

@zuphilip Great find on Tex.SE, thank you! I manually replaced '\{' with '\leftbrace' and it also did the trick. It looks like BibLaTeX.js and BibTeX.js translators need to be aware of such case.

@adamsmith Many thanks, commenting out that line worked like a charm. No 'file' field, no error upon compilation. I hear the new Electron-based Zotero is being developed, so maybe one could resolve this issue in the upcoming releases on a new engi…
-
I honestly don't get either why an escaped character causes this issue. Is there a way to tell Zotero just not to include certain fields (file path, for instance)? I personally don't need this info in my BIB-file and it now only causes this error.…
-
@adamsmith Yes, aside from looking weird in the text editor (syntax highligthing in both VSCode and TexStudio looks messed up after the problematic entry) biber returns 'warning: possible runaway string started at line 688' (where the file field …

@adamsmith Consider a paper by Foo Bar with a title 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur {FeMx(CO6)}' (the latter is some kind of random chemical formula). Zotero renames attached PDF to 'Foo - Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur {FeMsub.…
-
@bwiernik Thank you! I guess you refer to the new Electron-based Zotero. In general, is there a better way to address suggestions for the new version rather than posting them here? In other words, if developers are currently accepting feature-reques…

I confirm this problem on a Windows 10 machine where Zotero 5 profile folder is on SSD. Emptying trash takes much more time that it actually should.
