  • Well, with parentheses you would have to use .(\([0-9, \-]@\))(changed the brackets that were preceded by a backslash to parentheses) That might be an en-dash (I used a hyphen in the string that I gave you). You can use this instead .(\[[0-9, \-‒–—…
  • I mean if you have "Smith J., Doe K., Smith J., ...." the current ORCID system does not have a way of indicating which "Smith J." is which person (by ORCID), it just knows that both Smiths are on the paper (best case, though it's likely that it only…

  • Right, so you would first chance that to a new style, do whatever other edits you need, save a copy of the document, remove field codes, then do a search and replace as per above. It should work for a style with numbers in brackets.
  • Undo import is just a delete, unless you're talking about multiple references, in which case this would involve a good amount of work. Yeah, maybe just a dialog for multiple, since we do focus the newly imported item.
  • I think the field would remain parsable if any of the metadata was missing. Though maybe I would use braces instead of parentheses for license in case that the copyright holder's name contains parentheses. Feel free to paste those links here. I k…
  • Get the local clients here https://www.zotero.org/download/
  • I don't think we'll get multiple fields for this in Zotero (at least not in the database or not any time soon). What we can do is store this information in a single field in some well-defined parsable format. E.g. ©YEAR HOLDER (LICENSE). (a Zotero …
  • I've seen this with ISBN import once, where the ISBN was missing a leading zero (hence invalid) and was separated by spaces instead of dashes or being a single number. Do you have an example? I think I agree with you though that importing without a …
  • We'll have to wait at least until Dan is ready to make database upgrades, which is probably going to happen early next year (though I'm just guessing). This is great though. Do you have any way to assign ORCID to a specific author in the list if t…

  • Are you using the latest Zoster version? (4.0.21.5) If yes, then this is unrelated and you should start a new thread. In either case, please provide a debug ID for an attempt to retrieve metadata https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output
  • Do you have a link for more details? What data exactly is being collected? Is there an API?
  • You can copy-paste DOIs into the Add by identifier tool. They can also have text in between and you can paste multiple lines at a time. Never tested this with bibliographies, but it might work well. Zotero may interpret some random numbers as PMID t…
  • What problem are you experiencing with metadata retrieval, btw? I assume this is for retrieving metadata from PDFs, in which case it's probably because there is no detectable DOI and we end up querying Google scholar for metadata, which does produce…
  • We only use CrossRef to retrieve metadata for DOIs, which are non-ambiguous. In the long run we may use CrossRef's search by author/title or the new metadata search engine to supplement existing metadata, in which case this may be a good suggestion,…
  • In general we try to pick up copyright information when scraping metadata from page. It's not in any standardized format, which could be an issue, and not a lot of pages provide proper information in that regard. Improving scraping of copyright info…
  • Ooh, we're only talking about title case vs sentence case (should have asked for an example to start with). There's nothing you can fix in your metadata to change this (though you should always enter titles in sentence case). JAMA, which is just a l…
  • Also, can you give example of what you're seeing and what you're expecting to see in the bibliography?
  • In the new Word document, insert a reference, press Alt+F9, select everything in between the first opening brace { and the last closing brace } and copy it. Paste it here. (Is your account synced with zotero.org?) Should look something like ADDIN …
  • If you open a new document and insert the reference in question there, does it come out correctly?
  • Can you copy paste an example of a citation and a few words of surrounding text here?
  • We're talking about the way the reference appears in the bibliography, correct? Was the bibliography also copied from the old document? Try deleting the entire bibliography section and re-inserting it. Which Zotero are you using? Standalone? Are yo…
  • When I select it again and click "OK," it formats the information correctly according to Chicago style, except that a) the citations are on the second page, not the end of the page (they are footnotes), b) the corresponding entry numbers are supersc…
  • I'm afraid that there is currently no way to do this in an automatic way. You will have to move the periods yourself. Edit: If you want to follow instructions below, you will have to use the _final_ version of the document with field codes removed …
  • There are a couple of possibilities. 1. You inserted a reference, the data got stored in your document, and then the reference you inserted was deleted from Zotero library. So the entry you are editing in Zotero is not the same as the one that was …
  • But, FWIW, Firefox 31 is now out and is an ESR release (Pale Moon hasn't updated yet), so might as well update if you can. Also, I'm not able to reproduce this with 24.7 (the current ESR version).
  • There is no risk. You have to explicitly delete items for Zotero to remove them via sync. Simply sync and you should pull everything down from Zorro.org
  • I'm not saying that this is a bad idea, but the gain in functionality is very minimal at this point, considering the amount of effort needed to implement it (mostly because of underlying database and syncing requirements). If someone is very intere…
  • You'll need to update Firefox (the current version is 31). Also make sure your Zotero is up to date (check under Add-ons in Firefox). It should be at 4.0.21.5
  • Which part was not clear? Are you unable to find your Firefox profile directory? This may be helpful (though Firefox profile directory will be two directories up from what's indicated). Also, we do need to know your OS and Firefox version
  • What OS, Firefox version are you running? Have you followed the steps here?
