Just as an information, I simply have to install the xpi file from Zotero itself, right? Not sure what you mean.

There's a patch under review that should practically eliminate this whole issue. Waiting for Dan to review this and maybe he can release a beta version of Zotero with these changes so it can get tested. For reference, the patch is here: https://git…

Permissions are set per library, can't set them per collection. There are some plans to improve the granularity of permissions, but I don't think per-collection permissions will happen.
-
You can disable indexing during import (by setting either maximum pages or maximum characters to index per file to 0) and then re-enable it when you're done organizing your library and leave it overnight. Unfortunately, indexing does not currently r…

If you're set against having Zotero manage your PDFs in its "internal" folder structure, then yes. Otherwise, you could just drag and drop the PDFs into Zotero or select Store Copy of File. I'm assuming you're using Retrieve Metadata after adding th…

So you mean you're dragging and dropping a PDF file into Zotero and it freezes up? (I'm not really clear on what you mean by adding references _from_ pdf files). Can you describe in detail what you did for that last debug ID? In either case, renami…

As I said, this is not normal. Adding 10 references (from where btw?) should take from 1 second (from a file) to about 15 seconds (from a web page depending on your internet connection and website). Dan will have to take a look at the Debug logs.
-
but is it normal that it freezes in this fashion for so long? No, this is not normal. How many items do you have in your database? Could you submit a Debug ID for some action that takes longer than it reasonably should, but try to find something tha…

Can you upload the test document that does not show bold formatting somewhere?

@Joscha, is the annotation extraction code for pdf.js written specifically for Zotfile (e.g. updateMarkup in canvas.js)? I can't find any reference to it anywhere else. I think the issue here is that the text in the PDF is represented with wide char…

I can't replicate this. Can you replicate it in a new document? I.e. open a new document, insert a reference using that style. Then insert a bibliography. If that works correctly, create another new document, copy paste the first page or two from y…

Can you post a sample PDF somewhere?

But frankly, this is a bit of a shortcoming of CSL, since it doesn't provide a way to distinguish these item types that (presumably) require different citation styling/formatting. I recall that testing field content has been discussed as a potential…

That's sort of why I would say we should rely on the "medium" field instead. The contents of the field would not have to be "multilingual-compatible" because it would just serve standard vocabulary. They would also not show up directly in the biblio…

Also, not essential, but do you instructions on how to import the email itself into Zotero? The fields should be fairly self-explanatory. Unless you mean that some fields are missing that are needed for Chicago Manual of Style formatting. Not sure th…

just go to the Edit menu (menu bar) then all the way down to "special characters."Is this on a Mac? Or is this on zotero.org inside a browser? I don't see it on Windows in Zotero Standalone. You can also vary the font and style of the subscript. Not …

Could this have something to do with unicode composition again? If you re-type whatever title/author does not show up in Zotero, does it work then?
-
There's currently a bug in Zotero that causes this. Proposed patch here: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/pull/438
-
There is nothing of the sort available, but it should be fairly trivial to modify AutoZotBib to export in CSL-JSON instead of BibTeX.

If you want Zotero to be bigger, you may want to run Zotero in tab mode. See the icon at the top right of Zotero window.

I'm a new user. I added Zotero yesterday, and today added ML Zotero. If you have used ML Zotero (MLZ), then you cannot go back to official Zotero without reverting your database. Make sure you still have MLZ installed. Edit: Oh, and there's no MLZ S…

I've removed the 'for...of' statements, but I still get SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier at chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/inject/translate_inject.js:50 zotero.js:144That translator is littered with for...of statements. If y…

For most academic papers, you should be able to use the URL bar icon to save metadata (and optionally the PDF) when looking at the abstract or HTML full-text entry. Otherwise, you can just drag-drop the URL (either select the whole URL and drag, or…

Perhaps deferring to different DOIs or JSTOR stable URLs as a way of resolving that items are NOT duplicates even if titles/authors are identical. We already check DOIs. If DOIs don't match, items should not be detected as duplicate. If the DOIs matc…

You can use http://www.netresec.com/?page=RawCap to capture on loopback on Windows. You can also see what Chrome gets by executing the following in the Javascript Console on the Zotero background page var a; Zotero.Translators.get('9cb70025-a888-4a…

However, it would need to work very well to encourage any seasoned researcher with thousands of manually curated .bib entries to make the switch. You should just import the bib files instead of PDFs followed by metadata retrieval. Associating the PDF…

I'd suggest just waiting a day or two. At the very least, you will be able to install a "beta" version of Zotero that will fix this. you could try putting a space behind the PMID in Zotero. I think that should work and it won't affect how this works…

When I display something in a general search, its Library is not displayed Where exactly are you searching? Is this in My Library on zotero.org?

@adamsmith, you mean this is an issue in the csl style, right? I'm just confused by your pending patch (edit: to Zotero), which looks unrelated to this, and your use of "get" above. If yes, then it is also worth mentioning (once this is fixed) that…
