@janeluyip What browser are you using and what is your display language?
-
Can you create a video recording of the issue? We've never had anyone else report this and have not seen it ourselves.
-
You need to put the cursor inside the citation text in the footnote to see the edit dialog.
-
Restart your browser and Zotero. What happens when you click Zotero -> Add/Edit Citation?
-
Are you using the Zotero Connector in Safari?
-
To everyone experiencing this, we have confirmed it's a bug in the preview version of Word and have submitted feedback to Microsoft. If you also encounter this issue, please report it to Microsoft so they notice and fix it, since it's possible they …

@lina.ms This is a bug in the current Insider Beta version of Word. You should submit info about this to Microsoft so they can fix it and switch to the stable Word channel for the time being.

This is a bug in the current Insider Beta version of Word. You should submit info about this to Microsoft so they can fix it and then switch to the stable Word channel for the time being.

Please refrain from posting in ALL CAPS. Please submit a Report ID from Zotero. See Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents
-
Could you submit a Report ID?
-
Can you submit a Debug ID from Zotero? Edit: Actually no need, just found the bug. It's breaking in due to having a table in the doc. We'll have a fix out soon.
-
Same as above - you will have to switch to the stable version of Word

Would it be possible to have a toggle to mark/unmark the citations, as rutyggi suggested? There is no way for Zotero to do this. However you can select a piece of text in your document and use the Google Docs `Clear formatting` option to reveal Zote…

You are using an Insider Beta version of Word for Mac. This is a Beta version of Word that Microsoft uses to test new features. You should report it to Microsoft to make sure they fix the issue before the release on the stable channel. You can switc…

See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected You need to make sure your colleagues are not doing any of the things listed in the above page that break citation links.
-
You can try installing the Zotero Connector Beta for Firefox which has an updated version of the Google Docs plugin and see if that works better for you. Though generally, the current plugin is very stable, but sometimes the citation dialog won't a…

Citations can be added to the bibliography without citing them in text by using the Add/Edit Bibliography function. Otherwise we'd need to see the specifics of the document. See Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents

When we initially developed the Google Docs integration the only way to edit and modify Google documents was via Google's Apps Script which is also the preferred Google way for developing Docs addons by adding a sidebar interface. The native Apps Sc…

You should always be running the latest version of Word. Unless users like yourself report issues with a version of Word we don't test them. There's no particular reason to believe this is necessarily a bug in Word, but it can't hurt updating. Othe…

There is one newer version of Word that you could update to. Otherwise, what happens when you open Zotero.dotm directly? Is this a personal or university computer? Some word features may be disabled by administrative policy.
-
Sorry, but you've tried all that we can suggest. You can still try an older version of LibreOffice or Java, but otherwise you'll have to seek support with LibreOffice since this is their bug -- none of the LibreOffice extensions would work for you.
-
@epietsch554 Are you also running Word 16.62? That is the Insider Beta version of Word for Mac and may just have a bug in it at the moment. You would have to report that to Microsoft.
-
Just FYI, under the hood the collection and item trees have been completely reworked due to technical reasons and we're still ironing out some discrepancies between the previous and current version. On the other hand we don't have a compelling reaso…

The grey highlight indicates that the citation was inserted with automatic citation updates disabled and it's not in its "final form". The grey highlight will disappear when you click Refresh in the Zotero menu in Google Docs.
-
@djross3 Could you produce a video showing the issue which records keypresses so that the delay can be observed? Can you also produce a Debug ID for the slow typing after Zotero has booted up and sat idle for a bit? How big of a delay are you seeing?
-
Try the stable version of LibreOffice 7.2.7. Try installing an older version of JDK. Generally, this is a LibreOffice, not Zotero bug, so their support may be able to help you.
-
You will have to report this to LibreOffice support. It is not a Zotero bug. Updating Java might fix it, otherwise try installing the stable LibreOffice version.
-
What version of macOS are you running? Does it happen regardless of which item in your library you try to cite? Could you produce a Debug ID from the Zotero for the operation that causes the freeze?

This is an error that we've seen other users report before, but technically at least the error message is wrong. There is no way to select or remove Visual Basic for Applications when installing Mac Word 2016. For troubleshooting you can try restart…
