If you open the Terminal and paste osascript -e "display dialog \"test\"" into it and press Enter do you get a dialog that says "test"?

See the troubleshooting steps on this page https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/369565/#Comment_369565 Write down everything that you try and what happens at each step.

Technically the Google Docs Integration V2 (in Connector Preferences -> Advanced) has proper support of smallcaps, unlike the initial integration, but the V2 is plagued by a Google Docs bug that Google doesn't seem too keen to address even after …

Yeah, we see the bibliography multiplying issue sometimes in Google Docs, but we don't know what causes it and it's fixed easily enough by removing the bibliography and reinserting it.
-
Can you reproduce this in a new document? What citation style are you using?
-
You have nearly 3000 Zotero citations in this document. We rarely test Zotero with documents of that size, as they are exceptionally rare. How many pages do you have? You may benefit from switching to Google Docs Integration v2 in Zotero Connector P…

@kw47 Make sure you save the LibreOffice document as .odt before transfer and then save as .docx after restoring Zotero citations in Word.
-
What version of Word (like 16.64) and Zotero are you using?
-
@theovanderkrogt You should start by disabling all other extensions except for Zotero Connector, restarting your browser and seeing if it works then.
-
Have you tried restarting your mac? What's the full Word version that you have installed (like 16.64)? Generally, this is a very rare macOS bug that may be fixed by reinstalling Word.
-
What proxies do you have configured in Zotero Connector Preferences -> Proxies? Have you tried disabling them temporarily?
-
Sorry for the late response. I originally missed the fact this is a Chromebook. We have had some users report that Google Docs Offline extension causes issues, although last time I tested with it, it worked fine. Moreover, the extension doesn't se…

@AlanKsd Could you produce a Debug ID from the Zotero client for the same failing operation?
-
I can't seem to reproduce this with your items in a new document. Does it work if you disable all extensions in your browser except for Zotero Connector? What about if you create a new Chrome profile and only install Zotero Connector for testing?
-
Zotero plugin code is supposed to do the right thing and not cause these issues, but the API we use to interact with Word for Mac is unfortunately quite buggy and prone to this sort of breakage, so your contention here is likely correct.
-
Remove all of those bibliographies, then use the "Add/Edit Bibliography" button in the Zotero tab in Word.
-
Merge the documents into a single file and insert a single bibliography.
-
Does it happen with every citation item or just with some specific ones? Is it reproducible with those items in a new document? If so, can you export those items from Zotero as RDF, upload them somewhere and post a link here (like dropbox), then wri…

Try disabling all other Word extensions except for Zotero on the computer that is causing issues. If that doesn't help can you create a new user account for testing and see if it works fine there?
-
This is generally a LibreOffice and Java, not a Zotero issue. You won't be able to install any Java extensions into LibreOffice, not just the Zotero one. If you want us to help us you will have to answer dstillman's questions above. You can also see…

Zotero checks the first paragraph in the document to see if it has the text "ZOTERO_TRANSFER_DOCUMENT", and if it does, it initiates the procedure to convert it back into an active document version. I haven't had the chance to look into why it break…
-
Yes, we will have a fix some time later, but you can just work with the document where you remove the bookmarks (or at least the bookmarks at the first line of the transfer document).
-
This is not something that Zotero (or any reference manager) supports. It's something we would like to have, but it comes with a big technical challenge that we currently don't have the resources to dedicate to.

Table of content bookmarks seem to use the `_Toc` prefix in Word, but I don't quite know enough about Word's ToC system to say whether the bookmarks in your document could be from the ToC. Also, to be more specific, the bookmark that causes the issu…

Oh, good regarding 2. This saves me time debugging. Bookmarks like those should not cause this error, so we'll fix it in a future update. Do you have any idea who or what inserted those bookmarks?
-
What's the full version of Word that you used to write this document?
-
Could you also submit a Report ID and post it here?
-
You will need to be more specific. What OS, what document editor are you using? Did you try the troubleshooting steps? What happened at each step? Also submit and post here a Report ID.
-
Can you refresh your manuscript on the same computer in a new Windows user account? See step 11 in Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents if it crashes even in a new user account.

How are you trying to remove broken citations? You're supposed to just delete them from the text in Google Docs. Generally if you see {Updating} in the document after all Zotero progress dialogs have closed, it means something went wrong when insert…
