Check through your document. There may be a bibliography that is duplicating. Remove it completely, then use the Add/Edit Bibliography button to reinsert it. Override the document lock if the popup appears again.
-
Change the citation style of the document in Zotero Document Preferences to a different one, then change back and try again. You might need to remove and reinsert the bibliography.

Could you provide a Debug ID for a save from Firefox that produces the failing behaviour?
-
You have a very large document (1000+ citations), so it's going to be slower than a new or small document. It might be a little faster if you close other applications on your machine that you're not currently using, but the speed of operations in yo…

Let us know whether it works with Firefox on your university network and then we'll see if we can troubleshoot this further.

@kgrox Does it work for you with Firefox or is it also broken in the same way?

Are you testing this while connected to your university network?

@OISieb Do you see a message in the pop up that has a link to the page linked by Dan? If not, could you submit a Debug ID for an attempt to save?

What happens if you click Cite->Export Citation to RIS? What about if you visit https://www.sciencedirect.com/sdfe/arp/cite?pii=S0378775325009486&format=application/x-research-info-systems&withabstract=true

This option is enabled by default when you install Word, so it's always been that way.
-
Under Word Options -> Proofing is "Ignore word that contain numbers" checked? If so, you should check it. There may be other Word options that you have changed that could also impact spellcheck if it's not this option.
-
Hard to say, but Existing Citations Not Detected might be relevant. Otherwise see Reporting Problems, provide steps of reproduction.
-
@reimick What is the full version number of Word that you are running? Do you remember if you've recently updated it? Can you reproduce this in a new document? Did you have spell checking enabled before?
-
See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/citations_underlined EDIT: Sorry, I misread your question. I've added a follow up.

See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#mac Describe step-by-step what you have tried and what happened.
-
Are you running both applications as normal user or administrator. Are you using a normal user account on your machine? Can you create a new temporary user account on this machine and see if the plugin works there?
-
Could you restart Word and Zotero and provide a Debug ID from Zotero for clicking a Zotero plugin button in Word?
-
See Troubleshooting Issues with Zotero Translators and Reporting Problems. Provide steps to reproduce and URLs.

If you run any proprietary security software you should temporarily disable it. What version of Word are you using? Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents might be useful.

Would you update the Beta Connector and submit another Debug ID?
-
@grahamperrin Does this still happen for you? Does it help if you go into Zotero Connector Preferences -> Advanced and Reset Translators and then refresh the page?
-
Could you produce another Debug ID with Zotero Connector for Firefox Beta?
-
Do you observe the same behaviour with Chrome?
-
Your best bet is to restore the document from an earlier version. Make sure your collaborators are only using an up-to-date version of Word. Otherwise see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents.
-
Restart Zotero and Safari and create a Debug ID for an attempt that fails. Does it work better in a new document? Do you have a bibliography in this document that is duplicating itself?
