Close Word completely (by right-clicking in the Dock and pressing Quit), then go into Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and reinstall the plugin, then reopen Word and see if you still get the error.

What is the full Word version that you are running? Dose it occur in a new document, or only for a specific one?
-
If you are still struggling with this, you can open the Debug Output window via Help -> Debug Output Logging -> View Output. When Zotero is working on your document you will see lines being added to the window related to your citations.

Ok, I have just tested this. Unfortunately it's a weird behavior by macOS. Zotero Connector is opening another window for authentication with Google Docs, and if you have your browser maximized, it opens the window in the free desktop, but somehow t…

Move to desktop with Zotero main window, it is gone What do you mean by "it is gone"?

The Word plugin is incorporated directly into Zotero and isn't listed in the plugin list. This is what happens when I insert references in word. If you were meant to post something here, you didn't include it.

You will have to follow the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents steps, particularly the last one.

@cmfiddes if you're unable to investigate in Word by checking which line our plugin code fails on, it's going to be hard to offer you any more specific advice. Generally this is caused by Word being unable to message Zotero, which in the past meant …

What version of macOS and Safari are you running? Could you create a new temporary macOS account and see if it works there?
-
If you can find a reliable way to reproduce that, we could take a look. Generally Word crashing means a bug in Word, not Zotero, so you might want to report that to Microsoft, along with any crash report.
-
Citing in tables with Zotero in Word for Mac is not supported.
-
Can you create a new temporary user account in macOS and see if you can reproduce the issue there?
-
Can you not override the document lock? If so, provide a Debug ID from Zotero, your Debug IDs are from the Zotero Connector.

@zahraml what version of Safari are you running?
-
We have not changed anything about the Word integration in the last few versions, so whatever improvement you are seeing is caused by something else.

This seems to be a Microsoft Office/Word issue, so you would have to check with their support. As a guess, this could be caused by corrupt Word installation, proprietary security software, folder permissions being misconfigured or some other Word co…

Are you on the latest point release of 7.6? Does it work well with the stable 7.5 version?

@DWL-SDCA thanks for the tip, but I tried refreshing the document with my fast laptop and it is about as fast as OP originally reported. I think it's a matter of many figures, tables and also using footnote citations that is the culprit. Using A5 fo…

I am sorry that we cannot offer much here. Just to note, the slowness is on the LibreOffice end of the equation, where we use LibreOffice provided programming API to manipulate your document. LibreOffice own bibliography management may be faster, bu…

Sorry, does it occur if you insert the bibliography at the end of the file, instead of at the start? Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero for inserting a citation, a bibliography, then another citation?
-
I cannot reproduce this. Does it happen if you put the bibliography at the end of the document at the start? Does it happen with the APA style or only some specific citation style?
-
Sorry, your email got lost due to Gmail triggering some sort of security block. We run our own support email servers, but the forward to the relevant developer (me) at a gmail account lead to this issue. I've looked and tested over your file and un…

Can you explain step by step what you are trying to do, what happens and what you expect to happen? Provide a Report ID.

Do you have any other extensions installed in Safari? Does it work if you temporarily disable them (and restart Safari)?
