Looking at this Debug ID I see that the integration is indeed uncharacteristically slow. If you installed a different version of Java, you should make sure you have it selected in LibreOffice Options -> Advanced. It is still the most likely culpr…

See https://github.com/zotero/zotero-connectors/issues/447 It seems that you page is issuing an excessive number of ZoteroItemUpdated events, which is likely to be causing the problems here.

What version of macOS are you on now? Can close Word completely, then reinstall the Zotero Word plugin via Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors, then open Word and see if it works?
-
Could you produce two Debug IDs from Zotero 6 and Zotero 7 for the same empty document that is saved on your computer where you attempt to open Document Preferences?
-
Are you saying that it works fine with Zotero 6 with the same document, but not with Zotero 7? Can you confirm this is reproducible for a new document?
-
Did it ever work for you before, and only recently stopped working? Do you have any plugins installed in Word? Can you disable them? Do you have any security software running that you could temporarily disable?

I start wondering if the error message is just a timeout server issue and then the server continues to complete the task... No, the error we are seeing in the Google's error reporting interface is related to the script runner being unable to load th…

(In case there's not much you can do at this time, I will have to unlink all citations manually and restore and refine the bibliography from an older PDF export)...Is there a script to unlink if the built-in Zotero function isn't working neither. I …

The "document locking" thing is not a Google Docs feature, but a Zotero one. At the start of a Zotero command we set a flag that the document is being worked on, and then unset after the command is finished. The idea is that if another user tries to…

Google servers are experiencing some issues right now, which is likely what's causing this. We've reported it to them and are expecting it to be resolved on their side.
-
You will have to manually override the lock from that dialog. If it keeps reoccuring see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents. EDIT: This may be a Google-side issue and it's likely to get resolved on its own.
-
@c-sander We've had a few reports of this over a short period of time, so I would not rule out an issue on Google's end at this point since we have not changed anything major in the Google Docs integration in quite a while. It's possible it will res…

You can override the message in the dialog box. If you do does it appear again?
-
You will have to follow the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents steps on your doc if that is the case. EDIT: Although I am seeing in our logs that this may be an issue related to Google Servers, so it may just resolve on its own. In …

@michal.biedziuk as adamsmith above pointed out, Zotero with LibreOffice is very fast even with extremely large documents in our experience, although it will only be as fast as your computer and configuration. I believe we have had some users report…

You should produce a Debug ID without restarting Zotero. Either way, the copy of your document would have the internal option turned on, which makes Zotero believe somebody else is editing the document, so it would exhibit the same issue. Are you sa…

Do you run any security software on your computer? Have you tried disabling it temporarily?

Are you using the normal citation dialog, or the classic view? Can you explain step by step what you're doing, seeing and what happens?

You have multiple issues which are unrelated and should be debugged separately. If you are getting the dialog that the document is locked because somebody else is editing it - that may simply be the case, if you are all editing the document at the …

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to insert the bibliography into a Google Docs file? Does it work in a new document?

Could you submit aReport ID from Zotero after opening a blank bibliography dialog? Does it happen in a new document?

It's best to create a separate post instead of posting to an existing one as we want to make sure you have tried every standard troubleshooting step. See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#word_could_not_communicat…

We've never really seen anything like this. Are you sure you have closed Word fully? Did you right-click the Word button in the launchpad and select Quit at any point, to make sure Word is fully closed, and then reopen it? Could you try restarting y…

If you open a new document in Word (not Zotero.dotm, or an old file), does the plugin work correctly?
-
You should look through open Zotero windows. The Debug ID ends with Zotero displaying a Document Preferences dialog.
-
Please restart Zotero and Word, then produce a Debug ID from Zotero for clicking Add/Edit Citation in a new Word document.
-
Could you create a new Windows user account on your physical machine?
-
Are you opening the Zotero.dotm file from your startup folder, which causes the plugin to start to work, or from somewhere else? What happens if you open the one in the startup folder?
-
Could you create a new temporary windows user account and check if you see the same issue there?
