We will have to go through the same troubleshooting process. Can you confirm that if you press Refresh in the original document, the citations that you are trying to copy aren't flagged as unlinked?
-
Are you using Word? What is the full version number of Word that you are running? Does it happen in a new document?
-
You will have to follow the steps in the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents page. Report what happens at each step and we will be able to help you.
-
What is it that you are trying to run/open when you get this error? Can you submit a Report ID? What is the full version number of Windows that you are running?
-
There is likely a reference to the old item cited in your document somewhere, without any text. Generally the underlying reference should get deleted when you remove the text of a citation, but sometimes Word keeps it. To fix this, you should toggle…

Does it happen if you disable all extensions and restart Zotero?

@amanda.grunwald Sorry, this may be a known issue with Google Docs that we are unable to reproduce. You should completely remove the bibliography (and all its copies) from your document, then attempt to cite and make sure it works in an orderly (and…

See Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents. If this happens with all documents, try disabling all plugins and restarting Zotero. If you still get an error, provide a Debug ID for an attempt to cite in Word.
-
Can you explain step by step, after restarting Zotero, what you do in the Zotero interface, to trigger the issue, what you expect to happen at that step, and what happens instead? Also submit a Report ID.
-
Please do not post the debug output directly into threads. See Troubleshooting Issues with Zotero Translators and if nothing helps, provide the URL of the page where you are having problems.
-
If you open this Zotero.dotm file (make sure you allow macros to run), do you get an error while trying to add citations and if so, what error is it?
-
Unfortunately we don't have good suggestions for what to check here, you will have to think of what system changes you have made over the past days. If you work out what it was, do let us know, as we infrequently get reports like that and we have no…

Does it work in a new account after restarting your Mac?

What do you mean by "hyphenation feature"?

Do you have a ZoteroPort.txt file in your Word Startup folder? If you do not, the most likely reason for why this is not working for you is that Word is unable to execute the MacScript command which performs a HTTP request (like the one you tested i…

Open Terminal.app, and paste the following line into it: curl -s -o /dev/null -I -w '%{http_code}' -X GET 'http://127.0.0.1:23119/integration/macWordCommand?agent=MacWord16&command=addEditCitation&document=/Applications/Microsoft%20Word.app…

Begin by updating Office to the latest version available for you and restarting your computer.
-
What is the full version number of Word that you are running (e.g. 16.80)? Did the plugin ever work on this machine or is this a new install?
-
If you go to http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping in your browser while Zotero is running, does it say "Zotero is running"? Do you run any proprietary security or proxy software?
-
Could you produce a restart Debug ID from Zotero? Just wait for Zotero to load, then submit the Debug ID.

If you post a separate question about your synchronization issues, we will help. See Reporting Problems and make sure you provide all relevant information.

Sorry for taking a while to respond. In case you need to use Google Docs it works fine with Chrome or Firefox, but we are trying to find a reason why it doesn't work for some people using Safari. Are you saying that you created a new macOS user acco…

This generally works, but may not work with your document due to some specific formatting. You can try the last step of Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents, halving the document you are trying to import and seeing if you can import sm…
-
See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/citations_not_updating You will have to manually reinsert those citations which are unlinked. Your workflow of exporting and importing the items unlinks them from items cited in Word, so you should not do that.
-
Does this happen when attempting to cite in a new document? Are you using a proxy or proprietary security software?
-
There isn't a way to customize the Zotero Bibliography entries like that and as you have noted, Zotero will remove any manual edits to the bibliography whenever it needs to update it, so your best bet is to manually change that part of the bibliogra…

@dstark Make sure you highlight some text in your document. Go to Insert -> Cross-Reference. Select "Set Reference" in the top window, then paste in the field code you want to copy in the Name field. At the end of the code there should be a 13 ch…

Remove the bibliography text from your document and press Add/Edit Bibliography in the Zotero tab in Word. If citations and bibliography keep unlinking, see Existing Citations Not Detected.

Did you have to do anything specific in the new user before it stopped working? Signing in into any applications, or configuring something?
