After resetting your Mac, did you install any other applications or software that may potentially interfere with this, or did you go straight for Zotero and Word? Do you have any other plugins in Word?
-
See: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/zotero_7_for_developers#sample_plugin All development support happens on zotero-dev mailing group, along with relevant information about changes for developers. Generally though we will not be able to help so…

Would the following solution work? I use a separate empty document for pasting in references, which I then copy-paste into the main document. Once I create the bibliography in the main document, will the copy-pasted reference be recognised effortles…

I just noticed we've troubleshooted this exact issue a year ago with you. Could you try seeing if it works correctly for you with the Zotero Beta?

How old is this Macbook? Did it ever work fine before on it?

If you create a new macOS user account and attempt to insert a citation with History and Theory citation style there, does it work?
-
You should allow Zotero more time to work on your document. You can open the Debug Output (Help -> Debug Output Logging -> View Output). You will see lines regarding document processing being logged, which means that Zotero is working on your …

Thanks, this will be fixed in the next release of the Zotero beta.

Could you produce a restart Debug ID?
-
Yes, it's a known bug, reported to the LibreOffice bugtracker, but unfortunately received no attention. I've updated the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents instructions to include this as a troubleshooting step.

There is a bug in LibreOffice which breaks Zotero citation insertion when the "Next Style" property is set to a different style than itself, which is what is causing this. You will have to change your document styles to fix this.
-
This works correctly for me in a new document. A citation will not be inserted into an endnote, if you manually insert a footnote into the document and try to cite there. This is a limitation of LibreOffice. Otherwise it should work. Does it work co…

Could you make sure you are running the latest version of the Zotero Connector (5.0.141), refresh Google Docs, run a Zotero command (like opening Document Preferences), resolve any unlinked citations if there are any, and then see if you can still r…

Our software is called "Zotero", not "Zotera". Could you upload a screenshot which shows the issue with being unable to click on the dialog?

It's very likely that Google Docs will work fine with Firefox or Chrome. Ideally we would be able to figure out why it's not working correctly for you on Safari. Could you create a new temporary macOS user account and check if it works there correct…

Thanks for the report. We will have a fix in the next release of the Connector in the coming days.

You can choose the citation formatting language in Zotero Document Preferences.

Provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector (not Zotero client).

You have nearly 600 citations in your document. Your debug log says that it takes 90s for Zotero to retrieve all of those citations from Word. You should expect Refresh, adding Bibliography, etc. to take at least a couple of minutes. The citation di…

You are running a Beta build of Word. You should opt out of that and make sure you are running the most up-to-date version.

11 sounds difficult, but actually it's a very quick process. A 100-page document will only take 6 or 7 steps to cut down to a single page.
-
If this is a company computer you should report this to your IT. Group policy or proprietary security solutions are most likely interfering with ability of Word to communicate with Zotero

Could you restart your computer and confirm that neither Word nor Zotero runs as Administrator?

Restart Zotero and your browser. When pressing Add/Edit Citation in Google Docs make sure you look through all open browser and Zotero windows. First you might see a Google authorization window that you need to interact with (make sure you select th…

If you click Add/Edit Citation on the citations that you are copying, does the citation dialog open with an ability to edit them? Does copying just one citation also produce this result? Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero Connector for a copy …

What is the full version of Word that you are running? Can you produce a Debug ID for an attempt to insert a citation in a new document?
-
Does using a different account than the one authorized with this document work (or at least produce an error message)? It's worth trying to reinstall Zotero, although generally this doesn't help, but we have never seen a bug like this before.

Sorry for the trouble. Recent versions of Word for Windows have had some stability issues with Zotero. If your document has a table of contents you should remove it and see if it works then. If it doesn't, you will have to follow Troubleshooting Err…
