In Zotero 7. If you press the Add/Edit Citation dialog and wait 5 seconds or so, then right-click on Zotero, in the list of windows is "Quick Format Citation" listed? If not, does clicking on the Zotero app (to focus the Zotero window) make the cita…

@massimiliano.borroni Can you reproduce with a new fresh word document with just a single or a few citations? If so, can you send the unconverted document where this is reproducible to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

You most likely have a Zotero version installed via flatpak. You should remove that. Make sure that Zotero is completely gone from your installation. Then install the version from the tarball. If you still experience an issue, describe precisely wha…

The textmaker plugin is made by Softmaker, not us, so you will have to contact them about it.

Restart Zotero and Word and go through the troubleshooting steps. Describe in your own words what happens at each step.
-
Restart your browser and Zotero, then generate a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for an attempt to insert a citation that fails after overriding the document lock.
-
Do you have a different browser (Firefox, Edge, Chrome) that you can test on? Does it work there?
-
Just to clarify, you don't need to wait for 5 or however many hours for this. The bibliography related operations should not take longer than 10 minutes.

Based on your debug logs there is already a Bibliography in your document. Since it is already present in the document, Zotero only opens a dialog which allows you to edit the bibliography. It seems like it takes 400s, or about 7 minutes for it to o…

In Word go to File -> Options. Under Advanced -> Editing is the checkbox for 'Typing replaces selected text' checked? Does it help if you check it?
-
@aszala do you remember what other options you changed, or if you've used some guide that you could link here?
-
@javiarce Do you have 'Typing replaces selected text' in the Word Advanced/Editing Options unchecked? Does it fix itself if you check that checkbox?
-
We're not happy with this as a "solution". We're looking for the reason why running Zotero in compatibility mode even once fixes this, and hopefully will have a proper fix that doesn't require compatibility mode. In the meantime, @aszala @Ra1an when…

Did it work before? Does it work in a new document? What version of LibreOffice are you using? Did you install Zotero from a flatpak?
-
What item are you trying to save?
-
Sorry, your email is in my backlog, but I'm currently dealing with a bunch of other issues affecting a big number of our users. As soon as those are out of the way I'll look into it and let you know.

Restart Zotero and Edge and try again. Only test with a single document. Make sure you look through open Zotero windows if the citation dialog doesn't appear automatically.
-
If you restart your computer does it continue to work?
-
@aszala If you now disable compatibility mode, does it stop working after restarting, or does it continue to work?
-
Does it work if you run Zotero in Windows 8 Compatibility mode?
-
Does it fix itself if you (re)install the Microsoft VC redistributable? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-160#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022

I never had the "Could not find a running Word instance" error but I tried following the steps anyway Yes, the documentation is slightly confusing now. The error will be correctly thrown in the next Zotero update. I changed it from "Never notify" to…

Could you provide full steps to reproduce this error? Are you both using Chrome?
-
@zhengxy48 See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/could_not_find_a_running_word_instance Make sure you enable ( not disable) UAC and restart your computer, and disable Windows 8 compatibility mode. Then confirm whether Zotero works with Word.
-
Have you tried restarting your computer? Could you create a new Windows user account and see if it works there?
-
Did you disable other plugins in Word? What is the full version of Word that you are running? Open a Word document, choose File from the top left corner, and then click either Account or Help on the left nav bar. You’ll see your Office version and i…
