Thanks for doing all this testing @tombola . I don't think we've seen something like this before, but the fact that the old extension crashes LO makes me think, that this may be an issue related to a library LO uses, since there are reports from mul…

Try a manual install https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#word_for_mac_2016
-
If after pressing "Got It" in the prompt and clicking the button you get the prompt again, you are seeing a privacy settings related issue which at the moment can be mitigated by relaxing the setting.
-
Right. If you don't have administrative rights on this machine then the auto-installer is likely to not work. We'll look for a way to make that explicit. However, you might be able to install using the manual installation instructions.
-
@tombola could you try resetting your LibreOffice profile and try the old plugin again?
-
This notice appears once for each new host (i.e. website) that Zotero associates with your university proxy. It will be rarer once Zotero builds up a list of associated hosts.
-
Is this a new machine? Does it work if you run Zotero as administrator?
-
Does the older version of the plugin work right in a fresh document?
-
Could you submit a Report ID if you have not restarted Zotero yet? Also, could you upload the error message screenshot somewhere (dropbox, imgur, etc.) and post the link here?
-
If you install the older version of the plugin into LibreOffice does it function properly?
-
Ok, this is not getting me anywhere, but let's try debug log before doing something more extreme. Could you submit a Debug ID for pressing Install Word Add-in?
-
We should probably just be smart and disable quick-search if it's taking too long N.b. I believe there is a 250ms or so delay between the last letter typed and the search executing, so if you are typing at reasonable pace you shouldn't trigger it o…

Just to confirm, you are seeing a LibreOffice crash as soon as you press the button and independently of Zotero being open or not? You don't even get the citation dialog?
-
To work with your library you should have the Zotero application open on your Mac and switch to it, when you need to manage it. The online library is supplementary, but not the primary way to manage it - the Zotero app is. The is no button in your …

I wonder if we can find a way to make the extension to function again. If you remove it in LibreOffice -> Tools -> Extension Manager, close LO, install the extension from Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processor Plugins, does it begi…

That's very weird. Make sure there are no leftover libreoffice processes running. A restart would clear those if you can't find any. LO has a tendency to crash for certain Zotero operations, which we have worked around as best as we can, but if res…

Have you installed the Zotero Client (it's a separate program on your Mac)?
-
Could you submit a Report ID after pressing Install Word Add-In in Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processor Integration?
-
Umm, sorry, we haven't really documented that. The hidden preferences should be under translators. namespace. E.g. translators.ACS.highResPDF
-
This is now supported in the connectors. Find the config editor under [ext_url]/preferences/config.html. You can generally obtain the [ext_url] by navigating to the connector preferences.
-
What version of JDK/JRE is installed? You should update to the latest JRE and make sure it's selected under LO Preferences -> Advanced
-
Update to 5.0.10 and see if T&F is detected correctly.
-
The Firefox plugin is being discontinued for technical reasons beyond our control.
-
Let's continue in that other thread: does LibreOffice crash when using the buttons even when Zotero is closed?
-
When Zotero 5.0 migrates your database it creates a backup in the profile directory. You should just restore your 4.0 database, which is essentially the same as restoring from automatic backup.
-
There's nothing fundamentally new in Zotero 5.0. Make sure you download the client and the connector for firefox. The workflow is essentially the same, except that Zotero is now a separate application rather than integrated into Firefox.
-
Can you submit a Report ID?
-
Does LibreOffice crash with Zotero closed?
-
Just to clarify, this certainly works properly with Zotero 5.0.4. If you uncheck "Automatically take snapshots" in Zotero > Preferences > General, saves with the connector will not take snapshots.

The safari one is actually kinda hard to obtain (you have to go through the extension toolbox at the moment). I'll look for a way to expose it. We generally don't want to have a button in the preferences that opens the config editor, just because th…
