Zotero macros are not digitally signed. There should be an Add-ins section in the Trust Centre. Require Application Add-ins to be signed by a Trusted Publisher should be unticked if you want Zotero to work.
-
Okay, that's a good sign. Zotero Ribbon Tab might not appear because of restrictive Macro permissions in Office. You should look in Word Options -> Trust Centre and see what Macro permissions are set.
-
That should not matter, but if it does not work, then I'm afraid for now you'll have to fall back to manual installation instructions.
-
I've tried reproducing this by disabling certain administrative permissions like regedit access (which is what the plugin uses), but it still installed fine. However, we've had a few users report problems like this since your report and it seems th…

Does it work fine in a fresh document?
-
Presumably you had Zotero for Firefox installed, which had the full functionality of Zotero Standalone and that's where the plugin fetched your citations from. However with the release of Zotero 5.0 we were forced to discontinue the Firefox version …

Make sure there isn't a stalled libreoffice process running in a background. A computer restart will usually clear those.
-
You need to click through the download PDF ToS prompt https://www.zotero.org/support/known_translator_issues#translators_with_major_issues
-
Clicking the "Preferences" button opens Zotero preferences (unfortunately, hidden behind the current window, which is forced to be on top). In Zotero preferences you should go to Cite -> Word Processor Integration and press Install for LO plugin.…

We're not maintaining the Zotero PPA, so I cannot comment on that. However, I would assume that the problem is primarily in LibreOffice and/or maybe Java. So you'd want to make sure you have the versions of those right and that your VM is upgraded f…

Does going to Tools -> Add-ons, disabling the extension, restarting Zotero, enabling the extension, restarting Zotero and pressing the button to Install help?
-
You should make sure Zotero is running when you restart the browser. This method will only restore proxies previously saved with Zotero 4.0 for Firefox, but not any new ones associated using the connector. We're working on changes that will prevent…

@seaofthought does Zotero install the Microsoft Word plugin properly too?
-
Okay, so this is certainly a bug with 32-bit systems and somewhere in LibreOffice or its dependencies that got updated recently. The obvious immediate fix here is to reinstall to a 64-bit version of OS if possible. We'll look into this at some point.
-
Okay, this does not seem to be getting me far. You can try following the instructions here https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#word_for_mac_2016 You will need to copy Zotero.dot, not Zotero.dotm, and the startup…

There's no reason that should have happened. They would have gone away if you cleared your browser cache and settings completely, but if you had Zotero running, the connector should restore them. You can force the connector get the proxies from Zote…

If the desktop client is running and the connector reports Zotero to be unavailable then see https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/connector_zotero_unavailable

Could you produce a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for pressing the install button?
-
The main question here is whether it crashes with Zotero closed. If it does not and with Zotero open you see a crash after citation dialog, then it's a separate issue. If it is, you should start a new thread on the forums describing the problem in f…

@Guillem%20Farres are you also experiencing crashing even with Zotero closed?
-
You can drag and drop the link from the URL bar directly onto an item in Zotero. You can switch to Zotero mid-drag by using a keyboard shortcut (Alt-Tab or Cmd-Tab on macOS). We will be adding the context-menu options to the connectors soon.
-
@johnsmithtexas If changing the citation style went through without problems then you're good
-
Don't worry about updating to Zotero 5.0 until you finish the thesis. There haven't been any big changes related to performance yet, so you're not missing out on that front.
-
@johnsmithtexas Also do wait for the loading bar to complete. You are risking corrupting your citations in the document by interacting with the document while Zotero is processing it. We are working on a way to significantly speed up inserting in Zo…

@eric.radecki Could you upgrade to 5.0.7 and provide another Debug ID?
-
If you would update to 5.0.7, which was released yesterday and provide another Debug ID for pressing the Install button, that would be great.
-
Thanks @tombola . @Abdessamadd are you running a 32-bit version of Linux?
-
Yeah, we'd want the debug log to capture the plugin function going wrong.
-
Is it fine in a new document? Was it fine for this document with Zotero 4.0? Could you submit a Debug ID for clicking the plugin button (you should wait a minute, before submitting)?
-
Is it fine in a new document? Are you working on a very big document? Did anything else change in your computer?
