Ahja okay. Well, it actually doesn't work at all to uncheck - when I uncheck, I can't use Zotero anymore, and when I close and reopen everything, the box is checked again. When you close the document preferences dialog, Zotero is still working in th…

Thanks! If I understand you correct there is a waiting time after unchecking the box for automatic citations? No. If you have a document where you previously unchecked automatic citation updates, if you restart Zotero, then the first operation in th…

It seems like the Google Docs editor is not interpreting the citation Zotero generates correctly. It appears correct in Word or LibreOffice. However we recommend to use our official integration plugin in Google Docs, which will format citations cor…

When you disable automatic citation updates in a document, the first attempt to insert a citation after restarting Zotero will take a long time (as long as it used to take before). Afterwards, assuming the operation completes successfully, subsequen…

@dr_avk @veroB69 @SunKatana @AMeganGee do you still see this consistently? If so, is there anything special about your Windows setup that you can think of?

You need to press Refresh in Google Docs in the Zotero menu after transfering the doc. Make sure you convert it to a Google Docs document first (don't edit as .docx).

Could you submit a Debug ID inserting the items that give you issue in your document? And another Debug ID, inserting it in a new document where the issue is not present?

It's worth installing it somewhere where you have full write permissions as a troubleshooting step at least.

@shiwani95 Given that your company runs what seems to be a cracked version of Office, they shouldn't have any issues upgrading it to a more recent cracked version.

What is the full version number of Word that you are running? Could you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to insert a citation that crashes Word?

Unfortunately Zotero has limited ability to control this although it does its best. Minimizing Zotero (by pressing the _ button) makes this happen more often, so we recommend switching away from Zotero to another app without minimizing, which might …

This generally indicates that either some security software is interfering with Word's ability to talk to Zotero or that Zotero and Word are running at different integrity levels or as different users. You can check the process integrity level with …

Did you recently upgrade to this version of Kubuntu? Could you install a non-snap version of Firefox (via PPA) and confirm that it works fine for you? Does Zotero then work too?

@mcdn Does inserting that item in different documents also produce the same issue? What about other items in the same document? Where did you import this item from?

Could you produce a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector after restarting the browser for an attempt to insert a citation into Google Docs?

Does it appear in Troubleshooting Mode (Help -> Restart in Troubleshooting Mode)? If so, one of your plugins is causing an issue with displaying the File menu. You can also find the New Feed option under the Feeds header in the collection tree, a…

Yes, you cannot insert bookmarks into footnotes, it is not supported as a word processor feature. You also cannot copy (but can cut and paste) Zotero citations in LibreOffice when they are stored as Reference Marks. This is a limitation of LibreOffi…

Can you reproduce this in a new document? How are you inserting the footnote?

Restart your browser. Zotero should prompt you for those permissions again.
-
You should edit the author field of the item that is causing you issues in Zotero and make sure there are no empty spaces or tabs in it. Then press Refresh in the Zotero tab in Word.

Does this happen in a new document? Under Zotero Document Preferences are automatic citation updates checked?

Zotero has two locations where it stores user information. Profile Directory and the data directory linked above by adamsmith.

If you open that popup, type "ch" then press Enter, does the locator change to chapter correctly? Could you submit a Report ID?

You need to update Office.

Can you explain in more detail what you're trying to do and what happens? Do you run any security software and did you try temporarily disabling it?

Did you make sure Zotero and Word run as the same user and neither run as Administrator? Are you using Windows? Did you try restarting your machine?

What version of Windows are you running (full version number)?
