@pedrobrasil Sorry for taking a while to respond. Thanks for sharing the document, that helped identify the problem. We have a fix coming for this soon.
-
Sorry about this. We have a fix coming in the pipeline, but it's a fragile change code-wise and we've been working to make sure it doesn't accidentally break existing documents. We should have an update this week.

Microsoft is being kind of confusing with their branding for Office. Office 365 is essentially a subscription service for Office products, as opposed to their year releases (e.g. 2013, 2016, 2019) which are more costly to buy, but are supported thro…

Instead of adding Zotero via the Add-on dialog in Word you should make sute Zotero.dotm is in the Word startup folder. See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation

Could you describe exactly what changed in your system, what steps you took and where did you run into problems, how you solved them and what is the current issue?
-
@aburgart what is the path to your Word application (e.g. "/Applications/Word")?
-
If this is Word 2011 make sure you are running version 14.7.7 or higher.
-
Please post if you manage to reproduce this error consistently
-
Zotero embeds the metadata of the items that you cite in Google Docs within the document, so technically Google can access that information. Google has no direct access to your Zotero library.
-
Did you receive any errors before getting this message? Can you edit other citations? If you reinsert this citation does it start working?
-
This indicates the Zotero document preferences getting corrupted somehow. You can probably fix this by copying the text of the document into a new one. Could you also make a copy of this document, remove all text from it, save it and send the empt…

Which step of manual word plugin installation instructions are you getting stuck at?
-
You should follow this section https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#zotero_tab_does_not_appear_in_the_word_ribbon If nothing works, follow the link for manual installation instructions
-
The fix is now available in the Zotero Beta.

Office updates do not remove the Zotero plugin, only Word UI customizations. However, you did have a fairly old version of the plugin in Word, which should have been updated automatically by Zotero, but wasn't. This would happen if you had reset or …

@nicolasrode Could you try installing the Zotero Connector beta version for firefox and see whether the refresh goes through there? It will still take a while, but it should complete.
-
@pedrobrasil Have you tried working with the copy of the document? I have just tested inserting in a copy of your document and the lock override and further inserting seems to work.
-
You should reinstall the Word plugin in Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors. This will give you a new plugin UI designed for newer versions of Word. That's unlikely to help with OneDrive, but that error message is pointing to an outd…

Have you tried restarting your computer? We have had reports of OneDrive documents not working ever since Microsoft started offering it, but we could not reproduce the problems ourselves.

Does the bibliography break with other styles too? If you press the Add/Edit Bibliography button again, is the bibliography inserted in plaintext again or do you get the bibliography editor?
-
Would you be willing to share a copy of the document with Zotero developers for debugging purposes? If so, could you make a copy and email an editable link of the document to support@zotero.org? We've had one other report of this problem, but we ca…

What style are you using and what specific version of Word is it (e.g. 16.18)? What are the exact steps to reproduce it in a fresh document?
-
Does it work correctly in a new document?

How many citations (approximately) in the document? What citation style? How many pages? Google Docs integration is generally slower than Word or LibreOffice, although this is mostly out of our control and the limitation of the online nature of it a…

You used to be able to only have Firefox with the Zotero plugin running to use the Word plugin, but Firefox has removed the capability to run extensions that powerful in the browser, so now you have to have the Zotero client open instead.
-
What word processor are you using? Did you upload it to Google Docs or similar? Editing a Word .doc(x) document with LibreOffice or Google Docs, or editing a LibreOffice .odt document with Word or Google Docs will remove active Zotero citations from…

Word plugin buttons not responsive section of the troubleshooting guide applies. If you're not getting any error prompts from it is likely that security restrictions on these machines are preventing the communication between Word and Zotero. Does th…

The steps you described shouldn't lead to LibreOffice or Zotero freezing or crashing, but having a bibliography without any in-text citations has been buggy for a while, but we never got around improving it. We should probably just prompt saying you…

What is the location of your Word Startup folder? https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#locating_your_word_startup_folder

@lhauck I managed to reproduce this. If you have the Zotero window minimized when you use the Google Docs integration the citation dialog opens under the browser. If you click on Zotero in the bottom bar to show the citation dialog in subsequent int…
