So if you click Add/Edit on these citations do you get a prompt that they have been modified, or not? If not, could you produce a new small sample document that reproduces this problem and send it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

@phmak1478 What is the specific version number of Word you are using (e.g. 16.26)?
-
This is technically possible and probably doesn't impact LO/Word compatibility much, but it's a fairly niche request. A pull request is very welcome, however. If you decided to go for this, feel free to post on our dev mailing list for a more techni…

This is unlikely to change due to technical limitations.

Could you follow the step 8 of debugging broken documents instructions? You will need to make a copy of your document in Google Docs, and instead of undo you might need to use the Google Docs document version/revision history. Cut down the document …

For context, certain changes and updates to the codebase related to the plugin for Word 2016 unfortunately introduced some bugs in the plugin version for Word 2011. This has indeed been an interface issue, no document corruption is expected and the …

Does this happen in multiple, or only a single document? Is there anything you can do to trigger it? What version of Word is this?

If you click add/edit citation on those citations that have changed, do they have different cited items? Does it happen in small documents and can you reproduce it?

Also, is the document stored on OneDrive? Does it work if you save it on your computer?

Are you running either Word or Zotero as Administrator on this computer? Are you sure both programs run as your user? Does this computer have any other users?

Did others who wrote this document use the Zotero plugin to insert citations? If not then adding yours with the Zotero plugin will not update the reference list, etc. If they have, you should be inserting citations using the Zotero button or menu op…

Did you write this document with Google Docs and inserted citations in it from the start? Did anything in particular trigger this change?

Did you follow the debugging broken documents instructions?

No special setup for Word required. For the Zotero Connector you would need to do multiple profiles setup only if multiple users log in (without logging off, just switching users) on the same computer at the same time.
-
@simon.beggs another thing to check is whether your Word startup folder is actually set to the default one. See https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_manual_installation#word_2007_or_later_for_windows

Tracked change field behaviour is in the hands of Microsoft, not Zotero, so we can do little to help with this.
-
We've now updated the production connector with the fix for your issue, so you no longer need the beta. Sorry for the trouble.
-
Make sure you are not trying to insert a citation in a hyperlink. Does it not work no matter where you try inserting in this document? If you press Ctrl-K in google docs, do you get a prompt to insert a link that is empty?
-
Could you try testing with the beta connector?
-
Can you insert a citation in a completely new document?

So your exported copy does seem to be broken (more specifically, the [2-5] citation is not exported), but it exports properly from me from the document pre-export. We have pushed some updates to the export code fairly recently on Google docs, albeit…

Have you tried restarting your computer? What version of Word are you running?
-
What browser and which version are you using? Could you submit a Report ID from the Zotero Connector?

The document updates fine if you follow the 1st suggestion in the instructions. That is, accepting all tracked changes in the document makes the refresh work. Make sure you are running the latest version of Zotero and deal with tracked changes, eith…

Could you upload the citation style that you have used for this document somewhere (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, Pastebin, Github gist) and post the link here?
-
Have you tried removing and reinserting the citation in question? Can you edit other citations in this document?

We should probably make it more explicit that this is not and will not be supported in Word for Mac 2011 to be honest. Word for Mac 2016 has taken by far the longest time to get working right due to the API idiosyncrasies and we will not be maintain…

I assume you are using a Mac. Unfortunately, Word for Mac integration is very slow and tends to produce issues like the one you are seeing. On the other hand, you have over 1100 citations and pushing both Word and Zotero to their limits for this. Yo…

By "failed" do you mean the plugin was not working for any operations, or did the export/import fail? The export/import has not been tested or enabled for Word for Mac 2011 and the option does not appear in the doc preferences for it.
