It normally doesn't get capitalised, only if there is more than one word in the Prefix field, followed by a period. Not sure if this is something I can influence in the style, if so, that would be good. Here is what I get: Die Portamenti finden sic…

That seems to work well enough, thanks. Why are there so many field types which do not have entry fields in Zotero?
-
No, this particular bit is not different for music scores, but for the German way of handling citations. Normally, if no year is given but the year is known with some certainty, the format is: o. J. [1901] If the year is not known with some certai…

entering issued: "ca. 1867" results in ca 1867 ;-( The ~date only works in the extra field, not the date field (For music scores it is actually a very much needed distinction.)
-
I have already got that far, but: This works well for only one of the two: 1) date not given but known: [date] 2) date not given and only approximately guessed: [ca. date] But not for both. Ideally I would write into the extra field: issued:circa …

As I wrote, it is a custom style. Whenever there is a four-digit number in that feels it thinks it is a date, and drops anything else. Is there any other way to read the date field than with the date function? Can I check whether there is anything…

Just one more on this: Is there any way to optionally have: [ca. 1901]? There are editions where we know the exact date, and others where we don't. Any way to make the ca. render in the output? I cannot get this to work, it will always display [190…

Just found the answer: include issued: circa 1901 in the Extra field. I have added the conditional to the style. Seems to work.

Same here, though nothing to do with quotes, in the old style quotation editor nothing shows, so nothing can be edited. Is this a bug?
-
That's precisely the problem, none of these categories seems to fit. It is not part of a book It is not part of a journal It is certainly not a government report It is simply an article, published only as PDF as far as I can see, and only distribut…

In case anyone else is still having this problem, I just found the solution here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/some-apps-use-lucida-grande-instead-of-sf-only-my-user-account.2039770/

I am really desperate for this overhaul, it would be fantastic if you could let me know when it is out on the beta channel, so I can try...
-
Well, I am on a Retina Macbook pro, and I am getting Lucida Grande, while my Menus are in San Francisco. Not sure what is going on either.
-
This is most certainly not the case here. It seems that my System (Sierra 10.12.6) has a different system font, which Zotero uses, and which displays no difference between en-dash and hyphens (actually the spacing seems to be _smaller_ for the en-da…
-
@adamsmith: No, inside of Zotero (Mac) there is no visible difference between hyphen and en-dash. I know that in page ranges Zotero does this mostly automatically (although only when there is a simple page range, which is not always the case, I some…

Yes, it is just a very special case here, to complicated to explain. No worries. While at it: particles like van should be entered as part of the family name, and then they will be automatically dropped? Where will it end up when using a format fam…
-
Ah. I guess that doesn't help me much...
-
Can you explain? What is BBT, what is an aux file?
-
I guess No 2 is not such a bad option. I think that some key commands for making citations as first and subsequent should be added though.
-
I guess reimporting into Zotero would not really help me much, I would have double items of everything. That feature would indeed be useful.
-
How do you mean? I know that using the Word plugin I can do that, but this doesn't seem to work here, as it is a "note" style, and I need the citation in a graphic caption (which is a scan from the source). I can make a citation in Zotero and paste …
-
No, sorry, I cannot reproduce it. It just happens from time to time. But it may well have to do with the updated CSL style, which I am still working on.
-
Because I am going through all items to find those with either no or not so good short titles. I am checking the short titles against the full titles. There will always be a situation where something is needed, which most others would think is unnec…

Well, it's happening in citations in the footnotes, not in the bibliography. I can create the identical citation and it will be correct, which seems to me to show that this is not a problem with too large a part being in italics, in fact, this app…
-
Thanks. I also occasionally get citations all in italics (this happens after many updates and csl style changes). I find no way to revert them. Generally I just enter them again exactly identically and everything is fine. Is there a way to reset tho…
-
I mean footnote citation, where the text style (ie italics) has been changed using the old dialog editor field. I cannot see an option to discard changes.
-
Where do I put this?
-
I'll try to communicate this to the publisher...
-
Learning Python would be overkill, but thanks! (I am really amazed at how quickly you reply each time I ask a question. No commercial app I ever used had support of this kind! Thanks so much!)

The Place field often includes [u.a] (German for "and others"), but the style requires the brackets to be stripped. Ie: Cambridge u.a. not: Cambridge [u.a.] I can strip them manually, but wondered whether there was an easier solution using someth…
