According to the linked thread, there is no easy way with Google Docs, because it is not possible to toggle the field codes. One way, also explained there, is to temporarily move the document to word. The procedure is linked in the other thread.

What style are you using? Depending on the style, it could be sorted alphabetically or by the order of appearance in the text.
