I cannot reproduce with the same beta. Edit > Copy Citation works either in the main window or the PDF reader. Ctrl+Shift+A also works. Same for the bibliography. I have tried with both APA 7 and CMoS 18 as format for the quick copy.

I see no border on Linux.

It works with version 5.0.175beta1 of the connector on Firefox, but on Chrome it is still version 5.0.171. So probably the next update will solve the problem.
