+1 I, too, need this feature! It should work just like a Unix symlink. Just one example of why I need this (the one that prompted me to finally come search for it here): I have collections for each class I teach. But often a topic is relevant to m…

For the record, I was having a similar problem while running 5.0.75. Went a little crazy making sure there was still space on my WebDAV server, checking fs.inotify.max_user_watches, etc. Then I found this thread. Checked and saw that there was a new…

I just wanted to re-up this suggestion and give another reason it would be valuable: the multiple tiny files that make up a typical snapshot take forever to index, copy, backup, and delete (not to mention that it consumes inodes). The sheer number o…

I was having the same problem and an upgrade to 4.0.28.5 fixed it for me. :) While upgrading, I noticed that about:addons in Firefox is warning that "Zotero could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution." Assuming this is a sep…

Actually, I'm having the same issue with JSTOR -- plus, PDFs are no longer being grabbed. :( This is after a reboot and other translators I've tried work OK.
-
I edited the title, renamed the file w/ Zotero's built-in function, and everything synced! Looks like it was the embedded CR or something similar. Thanks, Dan! :)
-
I did try with AVG disabled and no joy. But looking at the error message, the line does break in an odd place, so I'll bet you're right about the embedded CR. I'll give that theory a try when I get back to the office Friday. :) (I think I creat…

Thanks for the suggestion, Dan. I did already clear the read-only flag on the entire directory, and my AV software (AVG Free Edition) reports that it hasn't blocked anything, so I don't think it's either of those two things.

Same problem here for a few hours now. At least I know I'm not alone. :)
-
I'm sorry to say that something possibly related to this issue just refuses to go away in the 2.0 final release. :( I have a recurring, annoying problem where I get about 30 sync errors at a time (seems to be the same items each time) where there do…
-
*sigh* Still something weird going on, though I'm not sure yet whether it's the "same" issue. I just had 27 conflicts crop up out of the blue in my latest update, and they weren't due to some other installation syncing in between updates. These were…

Hmm... the first time I brought up the new 2.0 release, I got the usual slowness. But upon restarting, everything seems spiffy and I see lines like this in the logfile: File mod times are within one-second precision (1206062801468 â 120606280…

OK, I got confused by the reference to rc3, but I hear you guys saying that this will be fixed in rc6 (or whatever comes after rc5) and I should just hang tight...

I seem to be seeing this same problem with 2.0rc5. Debug ID# D2046331054.

Catlynnl - I'm no expert, but I thought I'd mention that I've found several times that zotero gets "stuck" and I need to restart my browser and let it restart the sync from the beginning. This has happened to me at the file transfer stage, though, s…

Ah-ha! I didn't realize that Zotero had its own Trash hiding there below the list of my collections! That did the trick. :)
-
If I click the green arrow icon right now spins and then it doesn't send anything new, I get no errors, and I get a "Last Sync: 3 seconds ago" when I hover it afterward. Since deleting the files in question I have added other items and seen them syn…

(Also seeing this problem with this item: https://www.zotero.org/szarka/items/95996933 )

Having the same problem here today. I can see that my uploads are making it to the server, or at least they aren't showing up when I view my library and storage quota on the zotero web site. I actually had a whole mess of errors while uploading…

Following up with a summary for future reference... Dan wrote to let me know that "this looks like a bug in SQLite that allowed an inconsistency into your database without triggering an integrity check error." He had me follow the instructions …
-
Hmm... I think I did the equivalent of what you suggested, but got the same terse error it was handing out before: C:\Documents and Settings\szarka\Desktop\foo>sqlite3.exe zotero.sqlite SQLite version 3.6.21 Enter ".help" for instruction…

Unfortunately, my database is about 160 MB--too big to upload that way. I guess I'll upload the file elsewhere and email support a link to the file...
-
Yes, I checked the database immediately before shutting down Firefox, backing up the zotero directory, and attempting the upgrade. The database passed before the upgrade, and the upgraded database also passes after upgrading and then restarting Fire…

I should add that, this time, I first made sure that none of the files were set to read-only (Windows has an annoying habit of changing that, seemingly at random...) and I also told the stupid Windows indexing service to leave them alone. Didn't see…

OK, I did the upgrade dance again, with the same result, but this time submitted what I hope will be more useful debug output.. Report: 2098773452 Debug: D803575741 Same error, but in context it's: (3)(+0012794): Vacuuming database …

Yes, I had to restart Firefox before sending in the debug output, since Zotero wouldn't run at all until I did so... I take it the debug output is cleared on restart of Firefox?
-
OK, so I turned on debugging, shut down Firefox, moved my old zotero directory back in place, restarted Firefox, and let it churn for an hour... Once again: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [moz…

What I'm unsure about is whether all my data made it safely from one version to the next. I can see that all my files are still on the disk, of course, but not sure how to tell whether some data has gone missing from the database...
-
Hmm.. immediately after the upgrade attempt Zotero wasn't working. But after a restart of Firefox, I was surprised to find that it came right up and appears to be a fully-functioning install. Poking around a bit, my files and database appear to be i…

About the above, it also appears that this problem only happens if there aren't already citations saved.
