This morning there is some response: not a red outline, but a title ("Local object" or the alternative) does turn red if I click on a box. That allows me to proceed. There's then an error message report, with an exclamation icon (why error?), saying…

"but without any mechanism of choosing. Clicking on the merged version (or, in fact, any one of them) does nothing" (middle of the first posting in this chain): that's the problem I'm having now. The only active buttons are (at the lower right) "Nex…

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, the saving messages did show up while each item was being saved. And, yes, they are displayed OK in my Zotero library at zotero.org. I see now that they are filed in the My Library general folder both there and (good news) in Zotero Standalon…

Used advice above (fcheslack Feb 23rd 2013) with some success: that is, items from library catalog and Google Books seem to save OK (no error message). However, these items don't show up in Zandy (Samsung Tablet, Android) after due syncing, nor in Z…

I gave up on that page, resorting instead to a different catalog. Later, though, I called up a different record in WorldCat, and the icon showed up as it should. Evidently a transient problem

This is what shows when I click on "Options." Then clicking on the "Update status" button under Zotero Standalone does nothing: Zotero Standalone Zotero Standalone is currently available. Save via Server Zotero Connector must be authorized in orde…

There nothing for "Zotero Standalone," but this for "Zotero Connector": Zotero Connector 4.0.21 Saves references to Zotero from Chrome and Opera Permissions Options Developer website Different version number, I notice. The Standalone version is 4…

Yes, version 4.0.23.

No Zotero icon displays in Chrome for the following FirstSearch WorldCat link: http://firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp1.lib.umn.edu/WebZ/FSFETCH?fetchtype=fullrecord:sessionid=fsapp4-33109-i52r3xnm-srdr17:entitypagenum=7:0:recno=4:resultset=3:format=FI:nex…

Thanks; I eventually figured that out. Meanwhile the absent-icon problem in WorldCat persists, although I've managed to work around it by saving items to RefWorks and exporting/importing them to Zotero.
-
For what it's worth, both these pop-ups are allowed in the Chrome Content setting menu: [*.]firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp2.lib.umn.edu [*.]firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp1.lib.umn.edu But not http://firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp3.lib.umn.edu/ -- which is apparent…

Here are 40 lines just recently logged -- although maybe not relevant to the problem: D275597238

Yes, all other extensions are disabled. Output is blank -- but what would it record? There is no Zotero icon to click on, so no action takes place there. Apparently the system isn't logging the previous steps (browsing WorldCat), and there are no Z…

Meanwhile, belated pop-up blocker error message shows up in URL bar. Same thing happened yesterday. Unfortunately clicking on button to prevent pop-up blocking for WorldCat then makes no difference: problem persists (Zotero icon fails to appear on n…

"View output" shows blank page. "Submit to Zotero Server" button is grayed out.

This is the "Error report" number: 711017049
-
This is the "Error report" number. The log should report a half dozen or so successful icon displays, followed by a failure. This is the typical pattern now: after launch, some success, then a failure.

Icon has now vanished again from WorldCat/FirstSearch URLs -- after maybe half a dozen successes.
-
Not at first, no; but then yes for Amazon.com and (more important, now) WorldCat/FirstSearch -- though not yet for New York Times. Generally unreliable behavior -- transient?

Here's an example: http://firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp3.lib.umn.edu/WebZ/FSFETCH?fetchtype=fullrecord:sessionid=fsapp7-37797-i2seqsmk-l12saj:entitypagenum=29:0:recno=1:resultset=3:format=FI:next=html/record.html:bad=error/badfetch.html:entitytoprecno=1…

No; a regular wireless Comcast connection.

"Also make sure that you can actually see the collection the respective item is in - Zotero will not scroll/jump to the right location in the collection tree." Thanks -- that's the solution. (Also something to put on the wish list.)

Pasting an image is indeed what I did; too bad that won't work. A desideratum.

Ten or fifteen minutes each time. Discouraging factors are the absence of any throughput shown in the Wi-Fi meter, the "Zotero is not responding" error message that follows a stall in the green Zotero bar meter, and the XULRunner message. All these …

P.S. At end, error message is "XULRunner is not responding."

Persistent translator failures with WorldCat. E.g., http://firstsearch.oclc.org.ezp1.lib.umn.edu/WebZ/FSFETCH?fetchtype=fullrecord:sessionid=fsapp1-53976-hiqinuqr-rxb2ic:entitypagenum=3:0:recno=1:resultset=1:format=FI:next=html/record.html:bad=error…

Am still having the same trouble in Chrome (but not in Firefox).
-
That must be it: I've tried it both ways, and the icon does show with Zotero running, but not without. Thanks.
