I wanted to make another appeal for excluding annotations based on the color or -- if that's not possible -- by tag filter. The greyed / bolded selection is very useful, but if you're reading a book you still have hundreds of annotations and it is …

Not happening after restart.
-
Apologies -- I should have done that. The error has disappeared now, but I'll attach the debug if I see it again.
-
On filter by tag, I would like to be able to exclude untagged annotations (rather than greying them out). That would help to simplify and focus very much.
-
Thanks! I like this layout very much. Will it be possible in the not distant future to filter the annotations in the items list by color, much as we can now filter by tag?
-
I see this is easily done with a right-click. Exactly what I need.
-
Thanks -- seems that the OCR plugin didn't like the File menu; disabling it displays the New Library item.

Not seeing File > New Library ... https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u203711/00yjjpwk2lwg847v9v3o.png

Tags from collections would help, a lot.

+1 for this (or for a way to name colors and have them be available to search or filter).

I was using this css https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/86855/make-note-editor-beautiful. Reset to the default values fixes the problem -- the background of the selected text is greyed with the mouse.

A screenshot doesn't show it well. If you try to change the formatting (for example) inside a right-hand-pane note containing annotations, the cursor doesn't show what text is selected. The format will change if you select bold etc, but you can't …

There are many threads on this, but to state the obvious, the collection search field in the ipad app works very usefully to find (often hidden) subcollections; it would be great to have the same tool in the desktop.

Nice. And this works (somehow) even if the documents remain open on the PC and on the Ipad?
-
Thanks. Works for me. Much appreciated.

No -- it seems not to happen after restarting and syncing. (Sync took a long time, presumably because of the many attempts to copy items to the group folder). Before the restart the error message appeared before sync. But it seems fine now ...

BUT when editing the annotations in the left panel, it's probably good to leave the confirm on delete (or better prevent jumping from backspace deleting the comments to deleting the actual annotation -- especially as there's no Undo at the moment). …

Hadn't tried to make it work. This allows me to change the colours on existing annotations! Excellent. I can die now.
-
Truly a great feature, thanks. It's going to generate a lot of pressure to allow editing of all the old annotated pdfs. Do you think there might be a way to do that programmatically?
-
I can see how to filter tags by colour, and how to export individual annotations to a note, but I don't see how to export all the selected annotations of a particular colour to a note. Is there a way?

Deleting ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache works for me, and saves history and preferences.

Thanks. If there's a way to test this ignore matching text comments please let me know.

There's an option in PDFXchange to insert the highlighted text into the highlight field. We don't see that as a comment, but if you click on the highlight you see the text. This was useful for exporting comments. Probably a very niche problem. T…

Yes, there are important differences. Line breaks are the obvious ones, but also weird note duplications. Using PDFxchange and Zotfile: "our government is destroying two vital instruments of that growth-the system of contract rights and the large…

I can withdraw this. It seems to be a generated by extracting annotations made with a different PDF viewer. Using the built-in PDF viewer works fine on the same pdf.

Tags is a poor term for what I meant. Separate notes for each colour would be useful. But being able to insert a string into the pdf as a comment that creates a new note -- for a chapter or section -- would be great.
-
Sure. In the config fields we can edit the html wrapping. I do this, but I'm sure there are better ways: extensions.zotfile.pdfExtraction.formatAnnotationNote;%(content) (note on p.%(page)) * which gives me notes in bold ... extensions.zotfi…

Thanks for this. It was useful to be able to insert html tags into the comments formatting in Zotfile. Is there a way to do similar formatting of the extracted notes in the new system?

Thanks. This is a great improvement. +1 for inclusion by default.
