Sounds like Zotz would be good as a first pass. It provides you with a Citeline bibliography in no time, which has all the features you need. This is, of course, hosted at Citeline. Your IT guys will probably want to self-host, in which case the var…

As for your other issue, you should ask Adobe about that. There is no way Zotero can access the Adobe Reader/Adobe Acrobat interface and tag text in it.
-
I use Tags and a saved search for this. Items I need to read get a "need to read" tag. The saved search retrieves these items and sorts them by Date Added (but resorting by author or year is easy).
-
It should be possible to get rid of the extra spaces by the line spacing property (or some such thing). If you search for it, you'll find a few threads on how to solve this problem in CSL. The extra lines between multiple citations are the result of…

CB: I just add them manually (there is an item type 'email') and append the text of a email as a note.
-
I do use it to store preprints, informally circulated manuscripts and all sorts of other unpublished stuff. It's quite interesting to be able to consult the various iterations of a scientific article, for example. Even important emails from peers o…

I have no idea. I have taken the effort to subscribe to their general mailinglist and track down a number of individuals involved in the project, but I haven't got any responses so far. Zotz looks nice, but it is utterly unusable in this form.

Stan, this depends on whether you want to sync your attachments and metadata, or just your metadata. In the latter case (only the library items without PDF attachments and the like) you don't need to fill out the WebDAV info. (I do it this way, sync…

Try the button 'Multiple sources'. This allows you to select multiple items. Joining the Zotero server is as simple as filling in your Zotero username and password (the same you use to post on the forum) on the Sync tab of the Zotero preferences (g…

Really? That's terrible - and quite stupid! I've never seen that.

Yes. Click 'Show editor' when inserting the citation. This allows you to edit the citation text. You can change it into anything you like. In the case of your example you would delete everything except the page number.
-
This is a Microsoft Word limitation; the Zotero plugin cannot do anything about it. Fields and bookmarks (of any type) cannot be inserted in MS Word comments. They are basically for flat text only.
-
Note that the retrieve matadata fore PDF feature is only available in Zotero 1.5 beta.
-
The AAA cannot do anything about the citation style problem, though — that's a manque in CSL/Zotero. As for Anthrosource, I take it that the problems are due to the migration. Underlyingly, most stuff is hosted in Wiley Interscience anyway (even th…

Select the PDF attachment. In the right pane there should be something like "Indexed: Yes" or "Indexed: no". In the latter case there is an icon besides it which you can click to reindex. It is not possible yet, however, to find all unindexed PDFs.
-
Robin, it worked — a RIS file should be in your inbox now.

This can happen if you: (1) sync one client (so that the server has a copy of your library), and then (2) also sync from another client that you previously provided with a copy of the database. It shouldn't happen if you (1) sync one client; (2) us…

Yep, I have the same problem with citeline. Their site is a bit arcane - it is not obvious where you can post feedback (except for a general mailinglist), so I suspect there are many more people out there with this problem.
-
It is, I have it working on 2.7.1. Wouldn't expect it to become incompatible, since all it does is injecting a COinS span just before the post content.
-
Yep, I would like to be able to easily find unindexed items, too. So far I've been doing a search for all PDF attachments and browsing through them to spot the unindexed ones, but that doesn't make sense with a large library.
-
Yep, I've received it. Currently trying!
-
On Windows XP, I use SyncToy 2.0 for syncing as long as Zotero's built-in storage sync is a little wonky.
-
Sounds like you should take a day off to do just that :)
-
I'd say that the event of republishing the original 1983 paper effectively changes its date to 2006. What you really have is two different version of the paper - the original 1983 one, and the 2006 republished one. In many cases (anthologies, reader…

It does.
-
Nope, never seen it. FF version, Operating System, is 'Report errors' in the settings menu (Gear icon) active?
-
Remind me Bruce, does CSL provide a solution for it? Since old style reference managers do not handle this very well and since it's a much requested feature, it would seem that CSL should take the chance to improve things.
-
Sam, you should look at COinS or Unapi for exposing bibliographic metadata. Zotero supprorts reading from these formats.
-
You can, but then you shouldn't use the sync functionality (or change the login info by hand anytime you switch libraries).
