Gee, that sounds like something I've seen happening. Current behaviour is absolutely mystifying, so a warning that there is a conflict with items in the trash would be welcome. But what about silently solving the conflict by simply removing those it…

Let me add my vote for this feature.

Welcome to Zotero! The slowness is strange. I also have a 3000+ item library with loads of PDFs, even with indexing enabled, and I don't get these 'hang-ups'. Does this happen with any newly added reference? Can you give an example URL? There is …

Did I say I never use it? Hell, I'll say it again. Another vote for the ability to hide this toolbar.
-
Do you use a non-default skin with Firefox?
-
I use it for work! And it's awesome indeed.
-
@mark: I don't think any of the Zotero devs are actively working on translators - I've recently only seen one person contributing (mcburton). I think the idea would be that this gets gradually picked up by the community. Well if that's the case, I t…

This is Firefox asking you what to do with the PDF, not Zotero. However, you can tell Zotero to bypass Firefox in opening PDF files. Look up the hidden preference "extensions.zotero.launchNonNativeFiles" and set it to true. See description on link…

EndNote's RIS export is too erratic at the moment to provide clear and step by step instructions. See the discussion here, and especially the comments by JanMcC and this comment by noksagt.
-
There is (currently) no way Zotero can know about any duplicated PDFs, so you will have to delete them manually.
-
Meta-comment: Is this thread even watched? I always get the feeling there is not enough feedback here, in the form of 'added to the list', 'already on our list, working on it' or even 'sorry, that's not a priority for this and that reason'.

I also have problems with search. Simple phrase search (as in Google "this phrase") doesn't seem to produce sensible results. Just typing in the words (this prase) leads to results in which the two words perhaps do occur, but not close to each other…

Technical note: in a possible Zotero implementation, this would need to distinguish the review author from the reviewed author, hence another label distinction for the creator field.
-
How exactly do you imagine this? Where would the impact factor be displayed? It sounds very much like a plugin to me, and not something that should be part of Zotero's core functionality.
-
Well, this is obviously partly a matter of taste, but having switched from EndNote to Zotero myself, I found the right pane to be entirely sufficient for the purposes of spotting metadata errors and/or omissions — and way better as a generalized int…

I immediately caught a few errors that resulted from the switch from Endnote by viewing selected items. What kind of errors are we talking about? Wouldn't they be visible in the right pane, where Zotero always shows the metadata? Also, doing a searc…

(1) Click 'My Library' and do a 'select all' (Ctrl+A). The rightmost pane will show the number of items. This works for collections too. (2) If you type chrome://zotero/content/tools/csledit.xul in your address bar you get a pane to preview styles …

It is. The index makes your library huge.

Hm, I was unwilling to a Full Sync reset since I've got a huge library and this problem was only with a single Group. It would make sense to me if there were an option to Reset Sync for individual groups. But anyway, a Full Sync reset did solve it. …

There isn't, and I think there should be. The shortest way right now is Export items to RDF, include files, do a quick search in your file explorer of choice for all the PDFs in the export folder created by Zotero, and copy them to some location.
-
See under "installation" at the plugin's home page.
-
Is this your own invention or is it an existing style? Have you had a look at the Zotero Style Repository? If you hover over styles there you get examples. Be sure to uncheck 'Show dependent styles', otherwise there'll be lots of duplicates.

Even though you mention yourself that a discussion about hierarchical tags would be offtopic, I can't help wondering if you wouldn't just be able to make do with tag intersections. What do you do if you want to see all your entries tagged 'applicat…

I agree, Zotero shouldn't be expected to touch file permissions. Also, I've never had Zotero download PDFs automatically that turned out to be read-only.
-
I've never noticed Zotero making anything read-only. I regularly drag and drop PDFs on entries as attachments.
-
I would like to know if I need to be doing a manual backup during this time. A manual backup is always good to have, of course.
-
At my work PC I have the following fonts installed: Lucida Sans Regular & Lucida Sans Italic Lucida Sans Demibold & Lucida Sans Demibold Italic Lucida Sans Unicode The Zotero site is rendered in exactly the same way as Amanda's screenshot.

What citation style are you using?

I'd like to see improvements to Atypon-link and Project MUSE translators, as described here and here, respectively.
