I got a time on these: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2022/12/chatgpt-ai-writing-college-student-essays/672371/ https://www.chronicle.com/article/chatgpt-is-already-upending-campus-practices-colleges-are-rushing-to-respond I was u…

I would also find a command panel useful to avoid having to use the mouse or navigate large menus slowly by keyboard. Even with Zutilio many commands don't have customizable shortcuts.
-
Last dev response was 10 years ago on this request. It said that they planned to improve the detect duplicate algorithm at that time. Just curious if anyone has information about whether the dev team sees the duplicate issues posted after that time …

It is on an HDD. Does it do this even if the attachment column is not displayed? I just restarted Zotero and it still has some (smaller) delay even though the attachment column is hidden.
-
@poszukiwacz-madrosci I use the Zutilo solution, does that approach not work for you? Why?
-
@adomasven thanks for the troubleshooting suggestions! The machine isn't overloaded, it's a 8-core and Zotero takes only one processor, and I have plenty of RAM. Scrolling over the list is fast. Disabling the attachment column *does* help significan…

If you figure out a way, please post it—I may have to do this in the future.

Hi, I also now have a significant delay between typing even the first letter and having the list scroll and select the first item with that letter. In my 12k item library, it is a full 2-3 seconds between typing a letter and selecting the item. Is t…

This post may have gotten little traction because it was posted just before the release of Zotero 6, but it is still highly relevant for Zotero users. @dstillman and/or any other Zotero developers, can you please comment? Thanks.
-
Thanks! Do you know this from the Zotero dev Google group, some other public site, or non-public communication? Just honestly wondering if I could have known this by following things more closely. EDIT: I see it was mentioned on the Google group he…

@dstillman if adding a citekey variable requires only a Zotero change, can you explain your above post a bit more so users can know what would be required for you to decide to consider, approve, or implement this change? Thanks.
-
@kisbalta thanks for posting your working config. For others, to use this, pick "Custom" as your resolver and type "Sci-Hub" in the Resolver field. Took me a minute to figure it out.
-
@dstillman > When all fields gain a Citation Key field, we can consider it. Does this mean "when all item types gain a Citation Key field"? What would cause all fields or item types to gain a Citation Key field? Would this require a Zotero cha…

I'm also still watching this thread for updates on improving this feature.

Looks useful, but how do you use it? Where do I find a "config file with group ID, API-key and library type"? Any chance you will make this into a Zotero plug-in?
-
Interesting idea. I would be interested to hear whether the dev team would welcome or discourage a user-funded bounty program for Zotero plug-ins. Some of the features I have in mind, however, are central to Zotero so a plug-in solution seems unlik…

What on earth are you talking about? I questioned one specific decision you made about Zotfile, and you interpreted that as an accusation that you don't care about Zotfile at all or users in general? I guess that's why you started talking about all …
-
Thanks. Can you explain why you said my tone was inappropriate? I didn't attribute bad motive to anyone. Is the idea that since no one forced me to use the beta, I shouldn't question any decisions made about the beta development, or request any chan…

So, to make sure I understand, Zotero's native extract annotation feature does not yet have feature parity with Zotfile's extract annotation feature (in this case, it does not yet allow custom formatting). Yet you deprecated Zotfile's functionality …

Did you ask on the Zettlr Discord server? It is active, you may get help there. https://discord.gg/rcpFpVNe

> The problem I need a solution for, is how to export docx files from Zotero which will retain live citations in Word Do you mean how to export docx files from Zettlr? I would like this ability also, but you may have more luck asking the Zettlr…

@adamsmith , thanks for participating! I would be interested to hear your response to my essay. @dstillman , on rereading your comment multiple times, I am now more confused than before about how Zotero sets its development goals. In previous discu…

@dstillman, thanks for the comment. Before I respond more specifically, I have an honest question. You made a number of claims about user preferences, such as lack of a built-in pdf reader being the number one thing keeping people from using Zotero.…

Thanks for your comment. I do want to be careful that this thread not focus on general complaints re: Zotero communicativeness or roadmap, because those discussions have happened on these forums many times before, and they rarely end up being constr…

...continued A final example: one request that was discussed elsewhere and rejected was automatically writing Zotero-made notes into the pdf, which would be essential for users who want to annotate pdfs in other programs in addition to Zotero. Curr…
-
@dstillman thanks for clarifying. Glad to know that Zotero plug-ins can access Zotero-made annotations that are not in the pdf but are in the Zotero database. @adamsmith is right - the use case is people who are trying to use Zotero as a reference …

There are thousands of people who use Zotero with other editors and notetaking systems, and to efficiently use Zotero's new notetaking system with those apps, it seems that we will need to regularly export every annotated pdf, one-by-one, to write Z…

This seems like a great, useful tool, but without a GUI I won't be able to use it. Do you plan to do that later?

Thanks, not sure the problem but it's working now.
