Several points. 0. In the spirit of gratitude, let me first express gratitude to having access to this tool at no charge. So thanks to those who created it and those who pay the bills as a service to the common good. 1. "it wasn't going an…

I didn't lose any data as I have a backup which I reverted to. I have no idea if any data was lost during the upgrade to rc2. I don't think the inadvertant dragging was a culprit. I know, it doesn't make sense to me either. Going forward, unles…

I didn't think that Z would be into image conversions but it was just a little weird. the BMP file must be around somewhere but Apple Spotlight doesn't find it (all my keeper files used in WinXP are kept on an OS X drive). I'll have a shot of b…

There was another thread from August on this as the problem was found earlier. Karl from Interclue sent me a beta which fixes the issue. He advises a new version will be uploaded presumably to FF add-on page when he has a break in his schedule.

I got the beta from Karl today (quick response!)which seems to solve the problem.

Thanks for the tip, Dan; I forgot I could do that without uninstalling. It appears to be Lazarus. When I disable it, the problem goes away, and when I enable it the problem recurs. Any idea where the problem lies? I suppose Lazarus most likely,…

Hmmmm... must have you guys stumped. Remembering the discusion I had with Dan some time ago re what is and what isn't a DB, let me clarify my question. Should I expect the artifacts saved from a given webpage to be identical between Z-Win …

Thanks very much. Now that I am working virtually x-platform, I'm just trying to get to know if there are differences that I, as a user, need to know in the way the files are handled.

Hey folks, Could a Z person answer the last question in the first post on this thread? Thank you! Ken

Update: If, in WinXP, I try to copy RE%20Financing%20Case%20Studies_en from virtual NTFS disk to the physical HFS+ disk, I get an error dialogue "Cannot copy [filename]: The filename, directory name, or volume name syntax is incorrect." No…

OK. Thanks.

Thanks, that might be a good option for the future once the feature has been released. Still looking for answers to questions.

referring back to Sept 12, 2008 from Adam: It would be so helpful if Zotero were able to auto-fill fields in a chapter/section reference based on, say, a link to another reference -- the containing book, for example -- in the Zotero DB. I …

I'm happily using the APSA style but have found a deficiency, I think. As ref'd on: http://www.wisc.edu/writing/Handbook/DocAPSA_RefList_Article.html a chapter in a multi-author collection needs to have the editors of the collection …

Thanks, Dan. You're right. There was one very looong tag and once I edited it, I got a scroll bar down the right side. Then I shrank the frame and found more long tags the same way. So, now I have short tags and a scroll bar. Ken

Dan, Yep, what you saw on your system re radio buttons is what I saw on my system as well when I payed closer attention. Thanks Ken

Dan: did as you suggested and have sent you an email with uploadID. The massaged file that I downloaded seems to take longer to delete (2min 25 sec. ~25% longer than before)) than before but I have a added a few - not many - more refs since I t…

I've got a couple of suggestions for tweaking the functionality of this feature. 1. toggle a 'highlight containing collections' boolean with the ctrl key (and/or a 'preference') so that it is not necessary to click ctrl each time I select a new…

Dan: Took about 60 seconds to run that one command. Ken

Thanks for the reply, Dan. Here you go. Output from first statement - 123,886 Output from second statement - 1,154,093 I imagine the difference from your results might be that I've got links to a bunch of sizable pdfs??? Just a gues…

What have tests shown for deleting an item such as the case I mentioned above?

Dan, Last thing first. Yes, it was my entire directory (my def'n of the db) that was >500mb. The sqlite file (your def'n of the db) is only about 15mb so that was simply a difference in understanding which is now corrected. I can see I'll ne…

Thanks for the help and the quick turn-around as well. My db now reports no errors. Can I offer some observations on this whole db integrity issue in hopes of enhancing robustness and reliability? Now that my blood pressure has dropped since th…

OK, thanks. I was looking deeper than I needed to. Might have some suggestions on that later. results from recovery attempt using: sqlite3 zotero.sqlite .dump > dump.sql mv zotero.sqlite zotero.sqlite.old sqlite3 zotero.sqlite PRAGMA=auto_vacuu…

Dan, Is the recommended backup strategy documented anywhere; I couldn't locate anything? If not, I could write something up to pass along to you folks if that would be helpful.

Re FF doesn't allow a backup while Z is open. This 'solution' isn't pretty but... How about creating a shell, of sorts, which is the top-level of Z from which the main Z is then invoked. Then, to backup or set an auto-save interval, the Zshell …

Thanks for the ideas, Dan. I tend to disagree, however, by your characterizing it as a Firefox crash as FF hasn't crashed on me before (although because of, i suppose, its process/thread structure it has successfully tied up my machine - waitin…
