Hi Kritas: First, I sympathize. :) Second, I am no longer close enough to the issue to easily recreate exact steps, however, I was able to solve my problem with the information provided in this discussion and I am sure it will work for you. I am …

Awesome!

Hi Oliver: As I recall, I had to restart the computer/Zotero or both. I do recall that it did not immediately appear as if it was fixed, but it ended up fixed. Keep fiddling with it! There is enough information in this discussion to make it work. …

OK...disabled sync, then moved entire Zotero folder to Applications (on iMac). When I tried to open Zotero again, I received this error msg: "The Zotero data directory could not be found." When I tried to open files and folders, nothing was responsi…

OK...embarrassed but here goes: I am now in the Files and Folders, under Advanced, under preferences, in Zotero. How exactly do I "Just move this [~/zotero] out of the ~library path...[and] put it elsewhere...."
-
First, thank you! Second, this apparently seems simple. However, step one says go to preferences and click on the library folder. When I go to preferences under the apple icon, under Safari, and under Zotero, and I do not see a "library folder". As…

I am having the same problem. If I am reading correctly, the following provides a fix until Zotero 5.0: (quoting from Dan above) "the easiest option is probably just to move your Zotero data directory out of ~/Library and into ~/Zotero or similar.…

Hi Blinky: As I understand, there is no longer an option for a floating toolbar. (I believe Adam would be able to say for 100% sure.) Best to you.
-
Thanks!! In Word 2016, the Zotero toolbar is under "Add-ins" on the main ribbon. It is no longer floating. As I understand, MS defines a ribbon as the top bar containing tabs and shortcuts. Blessings, Eric
-
Thanks Adam: I remember working with you before when I began using Zotero and very much appreciate your assistance. OK: I could not find in Finder on the iMac a Zotero.dot file with the date 16 Mar 2016 per step 2 of the second link above. It l…

Okey Dokey... You will recall I have to open the standalone in order to save a citation, which I did not have to do before. It is a minor inconvenience only worth fixing if its easy to do so. Blessings, Eric
-
OK...now I am a little embarrassed. With the passage of time I cannot recreate the above. If it is easy, please help me to find the trail again that will allow me to answer your question above.
-
okey dokey Ready to begin again...it would be nice not to have to keep Zotero Standalone always open...although now I know that when there is a saving problem, more than likely I can just open up the program
-
true! (lots of laughs on that one!)
-
Hey Adam: In between discussion entries I committed myself to a big meeting on Friday and may be up to my eyeballs until then. If that turns out to be the case, please don't think I am uninterested in responding. :)

Do you mean "work without Standalone OPEN"? The only issue I can see now is a lack of convenience in having to open up the program when I want to save, or keep it open in the background all the time, or all the time I am on the internet. I do …

You guys are awesome! I did one test, and although previously I have never had to open the standalone version in order to save a citation, this worked! Appreciate the help, sorry if I did not understand, sincerely, Eric
-
My apologies; I did not understand: When I load the above url into both browsers with Zotero standalone open, I get the same result for both Safari and Chrome: "Endpoint does not support method."
-
Hi Dan: 1) The certificate info checks out per your criteria. 2) Chrome (only other browser installed): When I load the above URL I get "The webpage is not available. ERR_Connection_Refused. (Under details it suggested to reboot the router…

Hmmm...I do not use any security/firewall SW unless it is built into the iMac or Time Capsule.

"Safari can't connect to server"
-
Hi Sir: I am not using a proxy server to my knowledge, just the iMac and a Time Capsule as the wireless router, if that helps.
-
Also: (if relevant) Save via Server Zotero Connector must be authorized in order to save items to zotero.org when Zotero Standalone is not open. When I try to authorize, does not take. Thanks! Eric

Perhaps I can find Adam again! I am having the same problem again. Zotero is up to date now, and I reinstalled the Safari extension. (It worked once after this but only once.) Not sure what to do: El Captian, Zotero, and the Safari Extens…
-
OK..working!!! Here was my method: 1) updated the application to the latest version per Adam's "how to" above 2) turned the computer off and on 3) Re-installed the safari extension (not sure this was necessary) 4) Finally (under Zot…

Thanks Adam...I did find the updates under help and updated the program. I also then installed the latest Safari extension. However, still "no go." Again, seems to have roughly coincided with the El Capitan update, but I haven't heard of anyone else…

Oops, corrections: "the version I have and start fresh" (and, can I automate it for the future?)
-
thanks Adam...awesome! Do I have to uninstall the version I haven start fresh, and if not, if you would be so kind...how do I accomplish the update? (and, can I automate it?) Thanks, have a great weekend, Eric
