I have, but it didn't help.

Word 2003 (it may have gone extinct in other parts of the world) under Windows 7 and Vista. The same symptom presents itself under both versions of Windows. Word plugin 3.1.9. Firefox 16.0.2 Style: MLZ American Law Style The symptom is reliably re…

Yes, MLZ definitely recognizes the old citations inserted with Zotero.
-
if you select a citation style using current MLZ, save the document, and then find that it prompts you to select a citation style when the document is opened and you attempt to insert a citation, that would likely be an MLZ bug.Yes, this is what's h…

@fbennett Thanks for the information. I can wait patiently as long as I know it's coming. :-)

Just for a testing purpose, I went back to the old, "father" documents and tried to insert citations. Strangely, Zotero (or MLZ) asks me to choose the citation style again. These old documents are already full of citations, so there is no doubt a ci…

Google patent translator is grabbing the patent as a "book" type, rather than as a patent. I'm resurrecting an old thread rather than starting a new one, because it could be a transient problem this time too. Incidentally, I've recently installed …

That worked! Thanks.

Oops. How did I miss that piece of documentation? Interestingly, I posted the question because a quick Google search (search phrase "Zotero 3.0.11 release note") didn't turn up any. Thanks.

you may be almost as fast just opening PDFs with a quick PDFviewer like FoxIt What I was going to value in ZoteroQuickLook was not its same-screen preview functionality; I was going to value its ability to read a citation field in a Word document an…

for me that would just shift the annoyance from "damn, I've typed my search with the wrong collection selected, now I've got to type it again" to "damn, where have the items gone from this collection - oh, I've forgotten to clear the search bar agai…

Yes, I've installed maComfort first but it didn't help. I guess it's hit or miss.

So, does Zoteroquicklook work on the Firefox plug-in version as well, or just on the stand-alone version? I've been trying to install it but keep getting "Error message: Zotero QuickLook cannot be installed because Firefox cannot modify the needed f…

I'm reporting for posterity's sake: Using symlink with a Google Drive folder hasn't worked out. (My strong preference for Google Drive over Dropbox or other synced folder solutions is explained above.) First of all, with Google Drive, you have to …

Well, I'm retracting my own OP, because I don't think that will be the route I'm taking. I think I'll still use Zotero file sync as the main sync, and link Google Drive and the Zotero attachments in one computer. Since the whole purpose of symlink…

There should also not be any problem (as far as data corruption goes, though you may encounter some other limitations with this approach) if only your attachment folder is on Dropbox/Google Drive. Wow, if it can be done seamlessly, that's huge. Alth…

So many reasons point to MLZ's direction. I think I'll have to take it up sooner or later. Thanks.

You can't teach an old dog a new trick, so I'm a little hesitant to migrate to a new platform from something that I'm already accustomed to. That being said, does MLZ cater towards legal scholars?

I'm bumping up this thread to add my little suggestion. Yes, the ctrl/option/alt key is supposed to highlight the collections to which an item belongs, but why not make this automatic by default? Unless it's going to hog a lot of memory or CPU powe…

Right now the full-text index isn't synced and indexing isn't triggered automatically for synced items. I'm a little surprised that index isn't sinced. That means I'll have to duplicate my effort to index unindexed items for each database. granted…

Nobody on this?

I think this is a marvelous project. Abbreviation list always has had me look back at Endnote occasionally. I have a couple of questions and a question/suggestion. 1. Could you elaborate on the importing process for those who are less fami…

@mronkko Although I'm excited that ZotPad is about to be upgraded, 1.1 is not going to provide relief for people like me using Zotero server storage.
-
I've read the description on the Zotfile website. Although it's a clever solution, it doesn't allow on-demand "pull" from the tablet side. You need to "push" the PDF file first from the desktop side.
-
Wait.. I thought using Dropbox for storage was strongly recommended against for potential data corruption.
-
Your answer made me think twice. I just figured out that all you have to do is drag and drop a PDF file between two entries; it creates a new entry consisting of a sole PDF file. I didn't realize you could do that. Thanks.

I use 3.0 but "store in the document" is not default. I guess it only applies to new documents created under 3.0, not retroactively to documents created in prior versions.
-
Why not make it an option under preference in the future? By the same logic you mentioned, I get bogged down by several seconds while waiting for sync to complete in the middle of a Word-processing session, on which I conveniently put the blame…

Would it be possible to make Zotero sync when Firefox starts, regardless of whether the Zotero pane is open or not? Once the sync mode kicks in, it doesn't seem to matter whether the Zotero pane is open or not, so why not initiate the whole syncing …

Why didn't I think of that...
