A response to dstillman, I'm a scholarly editor and I work with book-length scholarly manuscripts constantly. And while it's true that Word does not deal well with very large documents, 450 pages of text is not anywhere close to the point where Word…
-
Adam, the scholarly editors group is equally divided on how to read that. I've submitted the question to the Chicago Q&A. I'll report back when and if they respond.
-
Huh. We read that very differently! I just queried a scholarly editors group about how to read that. I'll let you know. (I may end up writing CMoS for clarification)
-
Per 13.35, citations after the first full note are shortened as one name, just the last name, followed by et al. Three names aren't an option.
-
No, that's not correct. Here's the text of 13.23 The relevant bit is the final parenthetical. Notes without bibliography requires the first note for any citation to be as complete as a bibliographic entry would be. It stands in for that. (notes with…
-
These are the results of the notes without bibliography style. That additional comment was to clarify that there is no style in the set that puts out 6 authors. Including the (notes without bibliography) style, which requires the first 6 authors.
-
I was so excited to see Chicago 18 is my styles list. And then sad, because notes-no bib wasn't there. But it is. IT IS!!! I love you Zotero people. So very much!! BUT -- it only gives 3 authors and notes-no bib requires the first 6. Per 13.23. …

The "insertion search inside the manuscript" is, I think, what you are referring to as "the quick format add citation dialog (the search box with a red frame) " I don't thiunk I can show the field codes for a or b, because Zotero is randomly assig…
-
I've been reinserting them! And when I search by first author, only one entry for the year shows up. If there were a and b entries, they would show up in the search, yes? (I mean both the insertion search inside the manuscript and the search in my l…

That did the trick, thank you! It was unticked in the add-ons list and is now present and accounted for! Thank you so much Adam.
-
Thanks Adam -- I just double-checked, and that takes me to where I have been, and the Zotero file is in that startup file, along with some other add ins which do appear in their tabs when I start Word.
-
I followed Zotero's instructions, and Microsoft's I showed hidden folders in the explorer, went to appdata and user and Word and there it was. I have a screencap of path, but can't post it here. Is there a way to ensure it is actually there?
-
(and, sharing libraries in Zotero is still the "killer app" I use to get people to choose it over anything else. It's a pain in any other citation manager. So, while dream of more, I still am very happy)
-
Oh I'm sure! The visual walls between group and solo libraries make it clear that it isn't a simple thing! I just wanted to check, as I haven't been power-using Zotero much lately, and I know things change a lot. Thanks.
-
No worries. A dozen years of heavy use, previously as an academic now as an editor. I have taught easily a thousand people how to use Zotero and convinced 10x that to take it up. No more.
-
I've also just noticed that Chicago 15 and 16 are removed. Also not by my hand. Has this removal always been the case, or was there a sweeping update where Zotero took it upon itself to decide which citation styles I just don't need anymore in my ed…
-
So, I am livid. And I am removing manually every single citation style I do not and have never used. And seriously reconsidering my loyalty to Zotero. It's not just my error-- which existed-- in selecting the wrong style. It's that APA 7 was added…
-
Holy Crap. When did Zotero REMOVE my APA 6 from installed styles???? I don't think I could be more pissed about this! I never added 7, I don't work in 7. So yeah, I pointed fingers at the wrong thing. But I've been a Zotero evangelist for over a d…
-
When I output as Chicago 17, location and publisher are fine.
-
To add to the confusion, I do see my group libraries in-browser Zotero, but I cannot add a new one from there. (Clicking 'New Group' flashes the screen, but nothing else happens.)
-
Chiming in to say the same has happened here. I haven't checked my group libraries for ages, but I went looking for one today, and all my group libraries are no longer showing.
-
Hi folks, Jumping in here a year later to ask if 5.0 will integrate book reviews as an item type. I think of this all as magic, and I have no idea how the magic works, but I'm editing a bibliography *full* of book reviews, and desperately wishing …

I just wanted to see if there was any news on the Word for iPad front. (she says, crossing her fingers in hope)
-
oops! i meant 'opened from Firefox'. Also, hmm. i upgraded to Acrobat 11 a few months ago, I must not have tried to use this feature since then. I'll have to poke around.
-
i noticed this was gone yesterday from PDFs that I opened form Zotero but which opened in Acrobat. very disappointing. It was an exceptionally handy trick
-
Thanks fcheslack, I tried that. Absolutely nothing happens -- no screen flash, no Zotero import box in the corner.... just sorrowful nothing :(
-
yep. Safari works fine. (I haven't tried adding it to FF yet..)
-
That worked Adam. Thank you!

oh, I thought this might be it -- from Box's help pages -- but I get the same error with the new WebDAV :( WebDav On November 15, 2013, we will be transitioning from the current WebDav (https://www.box.com/dav) to a new version (https://dav.box.co…

The Debug ID is D668476215. "Them" is Box, in this case?
