I'm eager to try the send-to-tablet function, but it doesn't appear on the right-click menu. i've installed the 2 plugins and created and assigned a tablet sync folder, but the "manage attachments" menu only shows me rename and extract options, and…

I just wanted to add an endorsement for this feature--we're up to 20 members in our group, and when we're all working on a project at once, it's non-trivial to keep track of what each of us has added so we can curate our items and review others'. a…

aha--that did it, Dan, thanks. Should I now set the extensions.zotero.purge.tags back to False, or leave it as is?
-
Hi Dan: I created a tag and deleted it but still unsuccessful sync. Report ID 28509245. Thanks, Andy

Sorry, i think i had the wrong report ID. here's the other: 885855488

I just did a major library cleanup and had to create a whole bunch of parent items manually for non-indexable or otherwise metadataless PDFs--it was a big bummer because, of course, the new parent item shows up in a completely different place in the…

If only one person has Zotero open at once, you might be able to use a single library on a networked share that everyone used. Alternatively, I'm not sure how something like dropbox would work with a single shared library, but it does have versio…

Sorry, Ariane, that's what I found at the time which more or less worked, but I haven't taken another look at this problem since then. Try googling around for "CSV endnote import" or some such, or maybe check the EndNote forums? Sorry I can't help…

I agree that the best solution to this is moving everything to Zotero's servers. I'm ready to move my whole group as soon as the additional storage is available--hey Zotero devs, I'm dying to send you my money!
-
I must be doing something wrong--when I click on the legacy URL, I get a login popup box that doesn't accept my normal jungledisk username and password--can someone who's successfully gotten this legacy thing working give a slightly more detailed de…

same here. here's the message from, uh, jungle travis: JungleTravis, Nov 19 12:18 am (EST): Andy - We recently updated our web access interface which broke the Zotero link. We are investigating how to proceed. I will update you when we have mor…

Verification from the Sync pane fails, and it appears that they've just had a major product upgrade, so I'll check with jungledisk CS.
-
+1 on this. we've been happily using jungledisk for many months and today it bit the dust for all three syncing machines with the same error message. manually checking the zotero folder online confirms its continued existence (1 mac and 2 windows,…

Another alternative (the one we're currently using) is to have a single account instead of a group. My workgroup of 5 has a single zotero account that gets synced to our respective local storage folders. Though I suppose you can't have a single ne…

This is not exactly correct: Zotero uses only Google Scholar for PDF metadata extraction, but it can search for metadata using ISBN, DOI, or PMID using the magic wand button. This doesn't help when you're doing a batch extract from PDFs, but for in…
-
One way around this is to use smart folders or saved searches (depending on your OS)--save a search for all files of type PDF in folder (and subfolders of) Zotero. Then you have a dynamically updated folder that contains all your Zotero PDFs in wha…

Seems to me your best bet is to copy/paste the author and title into google scholar and use the zotero translator from either the search results page or the overview page within google books. It works reasonably well (though not perfectly--the sear…

I finally tested zotfile 1.0.5 under Zotero 2.0b7.2, Snow Leopard, and ff3.5.3 and it works great--I zotted 3 separate item/paper combinations with no troubles. Thanks Joscha! Despite the great rename from metadata feature of Zotero proper, I stil…

FWIW, in the biological sciences I've seen in preparation which could mean nearly anything and is therefore mostly meaningless; submitted, which is of value chiefly because it means the paper is finished enough to be sent to the publisher and has co…

Huh. Well that's kind of a bummer. Anyone else out there having this issue on a Mac?
-
Yes, dragging columns in history and organize bookmarks windows works fine. Dragging also works in windows opened by such plugins as Adblock Plus (preferences pane) and DownThemAll (selection window). Interestingly, dragging also works in the Add/…

Thanks Dan, I had thought of that since it previously fixed my column resize issues, but no such luck this time. localstore deleted, columns still don't drag.

Should folks with Intel macs update to the 20090920 PythonExt or is it only necessary for powerPC?

The only thing that appears in some pubmed results that doesn't get added is the PMC ID or, in the case of the "abstract plus" view, the related results pane . But I can't think of a situation in which I'd want Pubmed snapshots cluttering up my lib…

putting your DOI in to the dx.doi.org resolver works fine (assuming that N-Buffers for efficient depth map query is the paper of interest.) Any reason why Zotero doesn't use the official dx.doi.org resolver?
-
Brilliant, thanks. One more obstacle to Zotero's world domination removed.
-
Joscha, I'd thought about doing this as well, but never got as far as trying it--it seemed to me that Zotero wouldn't work because it's not a web-app but a plug-in. That is, its functionality is part of the browser, not part of a web page.

Another vote for Jungledisk. Few bucks a month, trouble-free with 3 users on 3 different machines, mixed Mac-Win environment. It also has the advantage of a (primitive) html interface for when you're away from your home machine and need network at…

Rather than drift off topic, we might as well veer! I use keyword searches all the time for PM, DOI, etc, and I agree it's a reasonable thing to do for PMC as well. Incidentally, PubMed does automatically link to PMCID papers, so in a pinch the Pu…

I hate this about PMID/PMCID--I really like PubMed, but I think whoever had the idea to make PubMed Central a completely different system with a mutually unintelligible set of unique identifiers ought to be fired. Or rather, forced to correct the d…
