As adamsmith says, this is a bug. Can you try making sure library reading is set to "any group member" as well as changing the editing permissions? That setting doesn't actually apply to private groups, but it may be causing a problem here.

That sounds like the library is locked for syncing and will resolve itself. Generally that shouldn't be a problem, but it may be right now if you try to view your library online for the first time while it is locked.
