Usually it will be updated and show immediately, but sometimes it can take a couple minutes. It should be showing up now and available when you sync.

You should seeing them all again. Some changes get flagged as looking like potential spam and hides your content from public until it's reviewed.

You can ask them to transfer ownership of the group to you, which can be done from the grouip's settings. If that's not an option, you can email support@zotero.org with details.
