The RM experiment didn't get incorporated into a production version. Nonetheless, I continued to use the experimental version (with shortcomings like @adamsmith mentioned) until a new RM version was released with some desirable enhancement I valued …

About 35 years ago an experimental (DOS) version of Reference Manager had a sentence-case conversion utility with a look-up table (similar to the user-modifiable spelling dictionary) that allowed proper nouns to be added. The shipped-with table incl…

Does Zotero now recognize a file with an extension filename.ris.txt as RIS? Do I remember correctly that some versions of High Sierra automatically appended ".txt" to text files? I definitely recall, a few years ago, needing to jump through hoops t…

Within your Zotero library, all titles should be in "sentence case" -- that is, English language titles having only the first word and proper nouns beginning with an upper case letter. There is a right-click option to help with that but you will nee…

You may need to say more about this -- What browser? What URL for the article? https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2003/cp/b313251j#!divAbstract From the URL above when I use the import-to-Zotero browser button I get the title without …

Are they in a system that uses Sophos? If so their tech support people can easily fix this.

You will ned to provide more details about the nature of the problem and the exact wording of the error message before someone can help you. See: https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems and read steps 1 _and_ 2.

I retract what I said above. The video makes it clear that there is more to this than a misplaced click. This still happens to me too frequently and I have to click elsewhere and then the "+" again or click in the first author field and shift-enter.…

Some Elsevier and Taylor and Francis journals seem to be retroactively adding abstracts to doi records. If this catches on, I hope this becomes widespread.
-
Ah, yes. Thanks. I use another forum where the escaped character is treated the same as the pointy bracket. This system is more flexible.
-
@damnation How did you accomplish displaying the blockquote tags without enclosing them within code tags?
-
Although some Elsevier journal metadata via doi/CrossRef contain abstracts, this isn't universal and not necessarily for all years. You can obtain abstracts with the metadata when you use the Zotero save icon in your browser from ScienceDirect.

@raffaem Also: If you want to drag the pdf into a different collection from the one you are currently viewing you can drag the file to the collection name below your library name. It is wonderful!

See, recursive collections: https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags edit: Scroll down a little bit to get there. See Dan Stillman's correction, below. Getting what you want is easier than I thought.

May I ask what you find so appealing about Nisus Writer Pro? It has a very appealing user interface and the collaboration function is handy. However, we (not royal) found that it didn't work well with other software and that its pdf converter had po…

@adamsaltman Please report this to the editor of the journal. The publisher even often gets it wrong when they submit metadata to the NLM for Medline/PubMed! As I said in the linked forum thread, the production staff at AHA journals do not seem to u…

@AnnaWul I haven't had experience with a newer version of Nisus Writer Pro but I helped someone trying to use the software last year. That it is based on RTF was a big problem because it didn't seem to FULLY understand RTF from other software. My co…

I'm not at my computer so cannot be specific right now. Many BMJ Group want "CSE-Vancouver" with ref numbers in parentheses and say that this format will be converted to superscripts upon publication. I seem to recall that many years ago, @adamsmith…

Thank you. That information will save me considerable effort. The only benefit I see for a page range over an article number is that page range allows easy differentiation of single-page editorials from multi-page articles.
