References indicate if you already have them
Hi! I'm wondering if this is possible or a setting. I think it'd be really helpful if the list of references in on a journal article, which currently open the browser when I click on them (so Zotero is doing _some_ parsing on them) and mostly open correctly or find a relevant thing, I think it'd be really helpful if those actually search my library first so that I don't have to collate the two myself.
So the idea is, if there's a reference that has a link generated on it, and I click on it, and I already have it in my library, it would open that article first. Only then would it search on the browser.
Is that possible?

The Reference plugin gives you a new right-pane tab, in which it lists all the references in the current paper. It has a number of ways of generating that information, including online repositories and text parsing, and has got very good over time. For older papers, and others with certain bibliography formats, it can be less accurate. Additionally, it attempts to find which cited papers are already in your library (based on DOI etc), and gives you the option to jump to a paper (either in the main library view if you have it, or in your browser if you don't). It also gives the option to add a paper you have to Related. It can also show you the abstract of a cited paper. Finally, it can also flip the list to instead show (later) papers the cite the current paper. It comes from an established plugin developer, and was maintained on Github but is now at Gitee. The easiest place is get it is the Chinese Plugin Marketplace. There are additional options you can pay for, but all the above functions are in the free version.

The Reference Linker plugin actually overlays hot link icons on the bibliography of the current PDF, that allow you to directly open a cited PDF that it has found in your library. It occasionally misses some, or fails to work with a particular bibliography style, but it is getting better.

IIRC the Citegeist plugin used to also allow tracking cited and cited-by references, but has not been updated for Zotero 10.

The Cita plugin has some similar functionality.

This type of cited/cited-by functionality is such a key part of academic work that I hope it will eventually be incorporated into base Zotero. Zotero already extracts similar information from online repositories. That would hopefully allow the ill-defined Related tab 'hold all', that is used for too many different types of relationships between papers, to hand cited/cited-by linking over to a new Zotero tab altogether.
