Jumping View
Hello Zotero Community,
I'm using the standalone version of Zotero (9.0.6, 64 bit) and more often than not, when I'm clicking in a field, the view jumps down, or the field, that I'm clicking in, jumps to the top (but out of view, I think).
I constantly have to readjust the view of a book to see, what and where I'm writing.
Can I disable this "feature"? I just want a static view. I can readjust it myself.
I found a 2012 discussion here, where someone else said something about a jumping cursor. I don't know, if he meant the same.

I surely can't be the only one with this experience?
Hello. A partial fix is installing Condense info view plugin to decrease the number of shown item fields and consequently decrease the "jumps" or screen transition while entering some fields.

Hope this will be of some help
Best regards

for me, it happens with pretty much almost all of the fields, so it's rather time consuming to handle this

I will try it with the plugin, but idk, how practical it is, because when I'm filling out/checking the fields, I kinda have to see, which ones are still empty
I can still reproduce the problem in the latest Zotero beta.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Make the Zotero window short enough that the Info section has a scrollbar
2) Select any item with enough fields that Info doesn't fit
3) Scroll the item pane so the field you're going to click is the last one visible at the bottom
4) Click into a field above it and type something
5) Move to the bottom field, either by clicking it or by pressing Tab
→ The pane jumps and the field you just moved into scrolls up out of view.
What matters:
- You have to actually change something in the first field. If you click into a field, change nothing, and then move on, there's no jump.
- The destination field has to be near the bottom edge of the pane. Fields higher up don't do it.
- DOI and ISBN aren't special — they're just the last fields in the Book layout, so they're the ones sitting at the bottom edge. I get the same jump with "# of Pages" to "ISBN".
- The item doesn't need to be new. I reproduced it on an item that had been in the library for a while.
Feel free to complete if you observe the problem in other situations.
