Bug, or user issue? Random, irremovable highlighting of records

Zotero has started randomly highlighting records in dark grey, see example image below. I did not select this record (if I deliberately highlight a record it's blue as per the image), and I can't find a way to get rid of the highlight, except restarting Zotero. Everything still functions, but I'm having to work around this apparently irremovable grey highlight. Switching to another collection and back does not clear it. If I restart Zotero, within a few minutes the issue happens again, on a different record.

I have no plugins installed.

I updated to 9.0.6 just now, hoping that would stop the issue, but it's still occurring.

Have I accidently triggered a programme feature I was ignorant of? Or is it a corruption, or a bug? I hope it's just a user issue, as it's hugely distracting to the workflow.

    Not a Zotero feature.
    Can you reproduce this in troubleshooting mode (Help --> Restart in troubleshooting mode)?

    I have had the same on the latest Beta the last few days, even with no plugins loaded (not sure if it happened in Troubleshooting mode though)

    Are you seeing this after a drag-and-drop operation? Does it go away if you start to drag an item in the items list?

    Thanks for your helpful responses.

    I've come back to Zotero this morning, to the same collection, and performing the same actions (adding new records). So far the issue has only happened once.

    @dstillman No, drag-and-drop wasn't involved. It was happening while I was adding new records to the collection. My process was simply create a new record, fill in the details, and add a file attachment from my hard drive. Rinse and repeat. The grey highlight was literally appearing from nowhere on random records already in the collection. But only on one random record at a time. I haven't yet established whether the appearance was maybe linked to mouse movement or text entry. I'll slow things down today and see if I can pinpoint it.

    When the issue happened this morning, I dragged a copy of that record into another collection, went to that new collection, then came back to the original one, and the highlight was gone; BUT I had tried that before, and on that occasion the highlight had NOT disappeared when I returned to the original collection. The only way to remove it was to reboot. So I have no pattern to offer as yet. I'll see what develops today, now I know it's a bug and not a feature.

    @adamsmith I'll restart in troubleshooting mode (I've not used that before - I assume it's self-explanatory?) and see if I can reproduce it.

    This has happened to me also. The grey-highlighted record wouldn't go away, so I quit and restarted Zotero and that worked. As I recall, I used (Mac) command-click to select a number of records and when I made a fresh selection, one of the previously-highlighted records remained selected, but in grey.
    Hasn't happened again, and I've been using Zotero more or less daily since.
