libraries displaying in reverse order when adding citations in Word after update

I have a group library that I use for everything. Then I have a backup library. In the past the main library was always on top with the backup at the bottom. Since the most recent update, the order is switched. This is a huge problem, leading to errors in entering citations and a huge extra investment of time spent scrolling.

I have lost 45 minutes googling this with no solutions working. As far as I can tell based on what I am getting from internet searches (that include AI, so who knows if this is accurate) this appears to be a bug in the update? Will this get fixed? And if so, when? This is making my life absolutely miserable!!!!

And in the meantime, is there anything else that can be done to stop this behavior (other than literally removing the backup library entirely)?
  • If you're talking about Library mode, collections should be in the exact same order as the main Zotero window. If that's not what you're seeing, can you provide a screenshot (either here or, if you don't want to share publicly, in an email to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread)?
  • @cwyn: You're using List mode, which searches across all your libraries. If you have an entire duplicate library, you probably want to switch to Library mode in the bottom right to limit your search to the main library.
  • Thanks, @dstillman. This does let me do that, but I prefer the list mode because it does not take up most of the screen (when entering references I often need to see the word text--e.g., to insert page numbers) whereas the list view is much more compact. In the past, the main library (which was created first and which is listed on top in Zotero) always displayed first. Since the update it now displays last. I don't understand the reason for the change--it makes Zotero less usable. There should be an option to change this back to the prior behavior (or to set a display order preference)...

@cwyn, I see what you mean.

In the previous "red bar" dialog, the libraries were sorted by the number of cited items. The libraries in list mode now are sorted by the number of search matches.

That is a bug that we'll fix.
  • Thanks, @abaevbog! Glad to hear it. :)
  • We've fixed this for the next update.
