In text formatting issues

Hi all,

Ever since updating to Zotero 8, I have experienced issues with the formatting of in-text citations. Specifically, Zotero no longer considers the format of the current text in which the citation is added, but rather appears to use the standard format of the file (domhelmlinger has mentioned the same issue in a previous post).

I just updated to Zotero 9 in the hope that the issue would be resolved, and weirdly enough it seems to be partially? Now, the in-text citation does follow the current text formatting in font size, but still not in the font itself.

Is there a way to change the "standard" font used by Zotero in-text citations? Preferably to "font now in use". I don't imagine it exists, but I do hope that this issue is completely resolved in the next update.

Which document processor are you seeing this with? Does it happen in a new document? Does it follow the font if you change the Body text style in the Word processor instead of changing the font directly on the text?
  • Sorry for the ambiguity. I experience this in windows in Word. It does happen in a new document. It does follow the font if I change the font within the "normal" style (i.e., rightclick "normal", modify, formatting). But I don't understand why it doesn't follow the current font used anymore, as it used to do.

What is the full version of Word that you are running? Find it in Word by pressing File -> Account -> About Word.
  • That is Word for Microsoft 365 MSO Version 2603 Build 160.19822.20086 64-bit.
  • I have the same problem, especially when I insert notes or annotations. With citations, it sometimes works correctly and sometimes it doesn’t.
I noticed that the formatting “Normal (Web)” is used as the paragraph style instead of “Normal”.

Yes, I can reproduce this. We will fix it soon. In the meantime you can work around it by making sure that the font used in the text is applied to the style of that paragraph.
