Locking a CSL referencing style in GitHub

We have two bespoke referencing styles for our university which are essentially variations of Harvard and Vancouver. Recently somebody has gone into these styles in the CSL section of GitHub and made changes including to the names of the styles. This has caused lots of confusion for our students so I'm really keen to avoid it happening in future. Can we lock the style down in CSL so it can only be edited by selected users? Thanks
  • Vancouver styles were renamed by the CSL project for all CSL-based tools to reflect official terminology, and it looks like your university's "(Vancouver)" style was changed to just "(numerical)" at the same time.

We weren't involved in these changes, but we requested additional name changes (some still coming) to the default styles to help people still looking for "Vancouver", even if it's not technically the correct term. But if you can update your own guides to reflect the new "(numerical)" name, that's probably the better long-term solution in your case, since it's true that "Vancouver", like "Harvard", isn't really correct.

I'll let @dunning, who made these changes, comment beyond that.

Your Harvard style doesn't appear to have been renamed.
  • Yes, we’re aiming to make the terminology across styles more consistent and ensure they reflect official documentation. If I got something wrong please do say, but I can’t tell which university you’re asking about.

I'm guessing this is [removed]? I can see this would be better named '[removed] (numerical/Vancouver)' for consistency with the author-date/Harvard variant.
  • (I'm going to let @ekilleen name their university publicly if they want to, but yes.)

I've proposed a correction on the repository but won't post the link here in case @ekilleen wants to keep the institution anonymous.
