I want to do the same as holobiome. In particular, I want to have a column to put the study type (systematic review, meta-analysis, RCT, case control). Right now, I am using the Rights column as I found barely any of the citations I import use that field so its utility is limited anyways. I do not want to use the Extra column as it sometimes has valuable info and is the only field that can store the citation count using a plugin (albeit that works worse than I would like).
+1, this is critical to me -- we cite large collaborations by using the inspirehep bibtex field "collaboration" to get FIRSTAUTHOR (COLLABORATION), and it seems they were all deleted when importing to Zotero [Yes, I agree that using only the collabortion would be better, but I have to follow the standards of the field until I become boss]
It actually stores these value in the extra field, but just offers an easier way to set and view them. And due to current limitations with the Zotero API it's only possible to have these custom fields at the top or bottom of the list, or just after the authors.
Possibility to add such fields to table view would significantly improved ability of fast and effective overview of sources
