Can't connect to self-signed WebDAV server

This discussion was created from comments split from: Unable to Sync.
  • Hi,

    I'm having problems connecting to my self-signed WebDAV server. I have the following setup at my server:

    ====
    -> I'm using my own WebDav server: the MacOX High Sierra (10.13.6) WebDAV version of 2017
    -> I have my own self-signed certificate: signature algorithm SHA-256 with RSA Encryption; version 3; RSA key size 2.048

    -> I'm using port forward to bypass my provider restrictions. For example, I mapped an external port x.x.x.x:50443 to internal port 192.168.1.9:433
    ====

    I can connect to my WebDAV server through MacOS "Connect to Server" tool (with CMD + K) without problems.

    In Zotero App in a macOS Catalina (10.15.7) I'm keep getting the following error:

    =====
    www.mydomain.com:50443 uses an invalid security certificate.

    The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
    The certificate is only valid for host.mydomain.com

    Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER
    =====

    I followed the instructions in https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/ssl_certificate_error but I got no success in connecting using Zotero app (version 6.0.12) with my WebDAV server.

    I did the following setup in Zotero's "Sync" Preference option:

    ====
    URL: https://www.mydomain.com:50443/zotero
    Username:
    Password:
    ====

    Can anyone help figure out what the problem is? I'd really appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

    I did all that is instructed in page https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/cert_override, but none worked.

    Any idea?!

    Thanks in advance!

    I'm afraid there's no more information we can provide than what's on that page. The steps are correct — I've just tested with the latest Firefox version.

    To be clear, for a self-signed cert, it's just the cert_override.txt file, but note the detail about the format change in newer Firefox versions.
