Unable to Sync

I created an account, downloaded all the new software and connectors. I open the Zotero app, go to edit - preferences, and try to log in to sync. Once I hit sync I get a pop-up window with an error stating "api.zotero.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate immediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error Code: SEC_ERROR_UKNOWN_ISSUER"
I'm working on my work issued laptop, could that be the issue?
