"Find Available PDFs" Not Working with all pdfs inside campus

Hello all,

this is a very similar problem to: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/85546/find-available-pdfs-not-working-with-vpn

But in my case, I'm working inside campus and have access to the full text of the papers (even in incognito mode).

Example: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jwpe.2020.101154
I can download this paper through the browser, but using the "Find Available PDFs" does not work. I need this function because I'm doing a systematic review, and all my references metadata are already in Zotero.

Debug ID when I try to find the pdf from this article is: D19150985

Anyone has any idea?

thanks
  • Can you provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for saving on that page? Is the PDF successfully added in that case?

(ScienceDirect unfortunately does more than most sites to make this unreliable.)
  • Hello,

yes, with the Zotero connector it automatically attach the pdf.
    debug id: D1019959354
  • That's from Zotero, not the Zotero Connector.
  • Sorry, here is from zotero connector: D1083324379
  • How exactly do you access the PDF from the browser? Link? Drop-down menu? Something else?

(We can't actually access this PDF through our usual proxy, for some reason. Not sure if that's a bug or just variations in subscription packages.)
  • Yeah, ScienceDirect PDFs that need to be accessed via a drop-down menu won't currently work with this feature. (This isn't the case for most PDFs on SD, nor is it the case for any other sites.)

For now, you'll need to download the PDF and drag it onto the item in Zotero.
  • Thank you for your attention and explanation dstillman.
Do you know if there is any planned fix for this issue in Zotero development?
