Yes, but even then, it would have been incredibly helpful to be told exactly HOW to access to the "cite pane of the Zotero preferences." Simply say , "Find the CITE pane by opening Zotero Standalone. Then click on "Edit" then "Preferences" at the bottom of the "Edit" drop down." See? Simple, but I wasted a lot of time trying to decipher this collection of words, "cite pane of the Zotero preferences."
Thanks @bwiernik but my issue was partially addressed in this thread. I could not find the cite pane of the Zotero preferences ... which is how it is phrased both in the main question for this thread and here: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting where I sought information on fixing a problem with Word. The link in Step 3 on that page for "Zotero toolbar doesn't appear" is broken (https://www.zotero.org/preferences/cite). This thread popped up first in a Google seach and exactly expressed the problem I had which was actually finding something called the cite pane. which i did. as I explained above.
No, the thread you posted to was 3 years old and was based on a confusion about how to even open the Zotero program, not about how to find the preferences. Please read threads in full before posting to them — otherwise, it's better to just start a new thread.
The Zotero preferences are accessed in OS-standard locations (the application menu on a Mac and Edit menu on Windows and Linux), and we can't provide instructions on how to access them on each platform every single time we refer to the preferences in our documentation. But we'll fix the Cite link in the troubleshooting page — sorry about that.
