Translator issues with JSTOR and Google Scholar

Hi,

I just upgraded to Firefox 3.5, running Zotero 1.0.10, and changed my Zotero data directory storage location. Since upgrading, I haven't been able to import the citation information directly from Google Scholar or JSTOR.

With JSTOR, I get the maroon rectangle, but no error message.

With Google Scholar, I get the usual "Could Not Save.. Known Translator Issue" message.

With ScienceDirect, the icon for import continues not to show up, but this is as described in the existing error message.

Trying to figure out if upgrading to FF 3.5 might have caused this -- I really use Zotero intensively and have not had this problem before.

Regards,

David
  • Can you provide example URLs?
  • Google Scholar, I just tried importing the first three:

    http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=billings+agthe&hl=en&lr=&btnG=Search

    JSTOR for the first reference:

    http://www.jstor.org/stable/3145831

    Thanks for looking into this.
  • So, I tried the same setup at home on my desktop (Firefox 3.5 and Zotero 1.0.10, separate from my laptop as reported before). Google Scholar and JSTOR both seem to work fine.

I might just try reinstalling Firefox and Zotero from scratch on the laptop to see if I can get it to work that way. I'll let you know if I find the cause of the error, but I suspect that my Firefox profile has accumulated some junk, and just needs a cleaning.

    Thanks,

    David
  • I haven't looked into it, but you might want to start here:

  • Me too - same problem. Happened straight after the upgrade to 3.5

Did you get to the bottom of this?

She was working fine before - I've worked through the obvious issues with no joy yet.
  • Is "Accept third-party cookies" enabled in the Privacy pane of the Firefox preferences?

Thanks Dan - didn't notice that had turned itself off during the upgrade.
Enabled them, restarted, and we're back up and running.

While I've got you here, can I ask about sorting of styles at the repository!?

See http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4423/suggestions-on-requesting-new-styles/ (e.g. the last post)

    and http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/7456/taxonomy-of-styles-at-the-repository/

    It's really bugging me!

    Thanks again,
    Alex.
