Bibliography in Chinese shows 'edn' 'ed' in English

see below
梁家麟 2012 福臨中華: 中國近代教會史十講 第八版 edn 香港: 天道書樓

and
林榮洪、溫偉耀 2001 論基督教與中國信仰中的超越體驗 - 基督教與中國文化的相遇 初版 edn 盧龍光 ed. 香港: 中文大學崇基學院
  • This is a problem specific to the style. Which style are you using?
  • Oxford Centre for Mission Studies - Harvard (2017-05-18 15:23:08)
  • edited September 19, 2019
The "edn" for the edition I can reproduce and fix.
The "ed." supposedly stands for the editor. That should already be handled correctly with zh-CN. Are you by any chance using a different region? HK or something?

Can you try this file? right click, save as, double click to install .csl file:

  • I tried, the problem is still there. observed one difference - change from edn to ed, see below

  • So, I don't read/speak Chinese, so you need to help me here. While I can figure out a citation in Portuguese, a language like Chinese is a different thing.
Also, please answer my question from above and try this in a new document.
The two citations you're giving, can you export them as .json and post them here within code brackets like such: <code>asdf</code>
  • If the problem is that the style contains elements in English, that'd how it was written and since we don't have access to a specific styleguide, we can't do much about that. If you want a fully Chinese style, use e.g. Chicago Manual of Style of one of the styles labelled as Chinese.
  • Q: Are you by any chance using a different region? HK or something?
A: Do you mean Zotero language? I use English.

    - "edn" stands for edition; "ed." is editor.
    - have tried in a new document already.

.json for the two books, see below

    Thank you.
  • @herahowoo Are you wanting "ed." to show as something like "編集者" or "編," and wanting "edn." to show as something like "版" (or to be empty, since you already have the label in 初版)?

Also, in your document, do you cite English sources? If so, do you want them to show as "ed." and "edn."?
  • re: ed. I prefer to have "編" after the name of the editor.
re: edn. it will be easier to leave it empty.

yes, I cite English sources also. I would like to show "ed." and "edn."

    thanks
  • I'm afraid having editor and edition terms conform to the language of the work isn't possible with standard Zotero styles. (It's possible to rely on some custom features to build styles that do this, but that's a bit more advanced)
  • I see! Anyway thanks for looking into this.
  • @herahowoo You might check out https://juris-m.githib.io, a variant of Zotero that is designed to handle this.
