zotero experienced an error updating your document. the server threw an exception.

I have a problem while adding new citations to my document giving me the above message. I tried to fix it with all your solutions in the forums or the web, but it doesn’t work.

May I send my document to the support team, so they can figure out the corruption
  • We've received your document and will take a look. Note, though, that, unless the problem still happens after you completely remove all content in the document, you can likely identify the problematic part by following the Debugging Broken Documents steps.
  • ok thank you so much
  • What version of Word are you using? Have you tried updating?
  • Word 2013 .. No I didn't try
  • You should make sure that you are running the latest version of Word 2013. The current latest version is 15.0.5111.1001.
  • how to check that?
  • It's either under File -> Help or File -> Account
  • I checked it and it is the last version as you mentioned above
  • Is there any update regarding my document?
  • You should probably switch back to the stable Zotero version (you currently run a Beta), but otherwise this is not a problem with your document, but rather with something in your computer setup since you are getting the error in a new document too. The document you sent us works for me fine.

The error you are seeing is not something we see often, but it indicates that something is interfering with the connection between Zotero and Word. You should ensure your version of Windows is up to date too and try testing with any security software that you run temporarily disabled. If this doesn't work you could also try creating a new user account on this computer and testing whether it works there.
