I have no idea why, but I'm not receiving any email notifications. My prefs are: email and popup for everything except for "Notify me when people write on my wall." and "Notify me when people reply to my wall comments." which are set to popup only.
Pretty sure this is working as intended. It's provided by an 'Unsubscribe' plugin that overrides other notifications (eg if you commented in a discussion, but don't want any more updates for that one). To subscribe to a particular discussion you can "Bookmark" it with the star.
So the gear icon is only an "Unsubscribe" button ? It appears in absolutely all threads for me.
blocks in old posts (such as the first post of https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/62288/citeproc-js-bug). Editing the old post and clicking Preview shows that the blocks are correctly parsed, so it looks like the old posts need to be 'reparsed' somehow.
"To specify an icon for the entire website (every page on the website), place an icon file in PNG format in the root document folder called apple-touch-icon.png"
Edit: Or, rather the new forums site isn't inheriting the general Zotero.org icon like the old site did.
I no longer see the 'Participated Discussions' option under the 'Discussion Filters' section in the left column. I can reach that list by going to my forums profile homepage, https://forums.zotero.org/profile/gurdas, and clicking on the 'Comments' option.
I don't see the 'participated discussions' option.
Are you logged in at the top of the page? I didn't see it either, but it looked like I was logged into the forums but not into the Zotero website somehow (I could post, but the top of the page said "Log in"). Logging in again at the top worked for me.
Hmmm I had to log out and login again to see the discussion filters. Curious that I could post here with no problem and my posts were under my user name.
Hmmm, again. I just tried to use the bookmarklet from my iPad and I had to login yet another time. I came back here to the forums and I remain properly logged in.
Sorry @fcheslack or @Dan%20Stillman but I don't receive any notifications from the forums. Even when someone mentions me, e.g. in this thread. That's troublesome…!
I often link to specific posts, and noticed that the links created when clicking on a post's timestamp now look like "https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/267235/#Comment_267235", which is a bit of a strange format, because it redundantly mentions the comment number ("267235") but doesn't include the discussion number at all.
It's strange, but it actually makes sense. Comments can be moved between discussions, so the discussion ID isn't necessarily stable. The path loads the right thread and page, and the fragment scrolls to the specified comment.
(the old URLs were more informative, though, since e.g. "8041/clinical-orthopaedics-and-related-research/" both gives an indication of the age of the thread (discussion number) and the thread topic (title slug); I guess we can still point to the entire thread)
@dstillman@fcheslack : not a big deal, but if I click on your username in order to view your "about" page, I can see (and that's all) how many unread messages there are in your zotero inbox or in the Moderation Queue. Screenshot here.
Activity is a vanilla forums feature we don't particularly want, but it's not easy to actually get rid of rather than hide. I believe it's basically intended to be used like facebook/twitter updates, and vanilla uses it from other modules for various reasons (presumably with some logic behind it, though what that is has not been clear to me).
Email notifications should go to your primary email address (the copy vanilla uses is updated when your account is updated). I just figured out why you are having problems and no one else is though. Your email address was on our sending blacklist, probably because you marked one of the old spammy notifications as spam. I think you should be getting notifications now.
Victory! I've just received an email notification for your post (and a "Welcome to Zotero" to confirm my email address) ! Thank you so much for your investigation!
Is it possible to receive a notification for all new posts in any subscribed threads and not only for the first one? There used to be an option for this IIRC.
fcheslack: ... we tested the advanced editor and had some problems with it.
That's a pity. In the absence of that, do you know if it's possible to enable paste-as-html (or paste-as-escaped-html)? (so that copied "roman italicsbold" doesn't turn into plain "roman italics bold" when pasted into the edit window)
Especially for requesting styles, it would help a lot if it would be easier or more obvious to add rich text formatting to forum posts.
Another feature request for the forums: it would be awesome if the username autocomplete would prioritize, or be limited to, thread participants and/or people you mention often. Currently you have to work through all Zotero forum user names which is laborious and error prone.
I just noticed something weird with the forum search. It appears that any search that contains a one or two-digit number by itself doesn't produce any results:

So now my main request is to fix the

Thank you, Rintze.
Is this customizable?
(for reference, the old formats to link to specific posts were either http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/8041/clinical-orthopaedics-and-related-research/#Item_19 or https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/50104/keine-seitenzahl-bei-mohrsiebeck-in-fussnote/#Comment_227251)

Also, what's the purpose of https://forums.zotero.org/activity ?
As for my problem with email notifications, is there a way to add another email address ?

E.g. GitHub (https://github.com/blog/1004-mention-autocompletion) works like that and offers a much better experience.
(another related issue, previously reported, is the fact that autocomplete doesn't work for user names with spaces, like "@Dan Stillman")
