Standalone+Chrome = no icon in address bar for any site
It was working normally around 12:45 EST and as of 4p it's not working at all (not on Amazon, not on Google Scholar, not on Web of Science, nowhere). The normal paper, book, or folder icons that should be to the left of the star (favorites) icon in the address bar are not there.
I have
* reset the translators in Standalone
* uninstalled and reinstalled the Chrome add-in
* deleted the translators folder in my data directory
* restarted both Zotero and Chrome and my computer more than once
I have a silver Zotero button to the right of the address bar which gives me Options, Remove from Chrome, Manage Extensions, etc. On Amazon it also gives me a book icon (still not in the address bar) but when I click it I get an error message "An error occurred while saving this item. Check Known Translator Issues for more information. It also put the following in the connector errors section of Zotero Connector Preferences: [JavaScript Error: "Cannot use 'in' operator to search for 'length' in null" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/zotero/utilities.js" line: 1042}]. I reported this under ReportID 2040136102
When on Google Scholar the silver icon to the right of the address bar gives me only the menu list.
I sent what I had in the error window from standalone in as report 1384666031
Any ideas?
Thanks

And the book icon on Amazon would be in the address bar, so I'm also not sure what you mean by "On Amazon it also gives me a book icon (still not in the address bar)".
You can take a screenshot, upload it somewhere, and provide a link, but in terms of the book icon, can you provide the Amazon URL you're trying to save from and a Debug ID from Chrome for the save attempt?
I'd want specific URLs for the pages referenced above, though, and more generally running through

This image is what the silver icon turns into on an Amazon page (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) The debug ID is in the original post above (ReportID 2040136102):

This is the error message I'm getting when I click the book icon -which is not in the address bar: https://www.dropbox.com/s/49xyzy2y77s6zut/2016-03-02_17-25-03.jpg?dl=0
I am using Chrome Version 48.0.2564.116 m
and Zotero Standalone 4.0.28.7
Thanks!
1) Google scholar and amazon are supported sites
2) Zotero version is 4.0.28.7
3) not using FF
4) it's everything - there are no known issues on everything
5) I have
* reset the translators in Standalone
6) I have clicked the update button more than once
7) no icons except the book in Amazon
8) did not get an unresponsive script warning
9) system clock is fine
The url for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0192CTMWI/ref=s9_simh_gw_g351_i3_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=12P81VHE5E41N62QF066&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2079475242&pf_rd_i=desktop
Thanks
For saving, Kindle versions aren't currently supported. Just switch to one of the other versions (e.g., hardcover) and it should work.
Unfortunately, it still doesn't explain why I can't save from Google Scholar or other sites where I could save from this morning.
For example on these the gray icon stays a Z:

On these the Z turns into the page icon but hangs while saving like the Amazon one. I gave them a couple on minutes before I gave up on them.

On this one the gray Z icon turns into a folder (even though it's an individual item page) but gives the "An error occurred while saving this item" error

Thanks!
Options says: Zotero Standalone is currently available.
Thanks!

Maybe there's an experimental feature preference or so you had toggled.
edit: or Google does secret A/B testing with Chrome releases. I wouldn't put it past them. You were the treatment group ;)
